Some people here put way to much importance on the debates. These things have incredibly low viewership.

You know who watches these "debates"? Political Junkies, thats who. Guess what, political junkies already have an opinion on each of the candidates and it is not changing. We dont reach new people with these "debates."

True. But if someone fucks up in the debate or if they majorly burn another canidate it becomes a talking point clip on nearly every show for a week.

See hillary fucking up the liscenses for illegals question.

The debates are an opportunity OR a liability. Ron Paul seems to float in the middle and just get by when he could majorly seize the opportunity to make the others look like the liars they are.

Chewbacca has it. The debates ARE important. Political junkies might tune in, but they play the highlights of it and talk about them for a while afterwards.

I believe you're wrong.. everyone I talk to watches them.. sports fans.. etc.. people know the country is in shitty shape.

Chewbacca has the point. Something interesting will show up on all the channels the next morning (or - in the case of Ron - on the Net)

I don't think anyone watched them before because there were too many candidates and their primaries were a long way off.

Now, it will be a more intimate debate, that is one week before super tuesday. I think this will be the highest rated debate.

And Ron needs to speak to the OLD PEOPLE in this one.

I want to hear him say 100 times...

I will save social security
I will protect america
I will lower the cost of drugs by allowing canada to sell medications here
I will make it legal to drive until your 200 years old
I will buy a jello cup for every senior in America
I will stop taxing social security
I will create a TV station that plays Matlock and The Golden Girls 24/hrs a day.

it would be nice if they were forced to stretch out their answers past 60-90 seconds (adv ron paul).

My guess is that the average person who watches the debate has more political pull and weight than the average person living in the US. (I said person, and not citizen, cause a sizeable percentage are not even elligible to vote.)

Hey, guess what. I am not a NO ONE. Neither are anyone on this forum, including yourself.

Many people are influenced by debates in Presidential elections.

If you don't believe me, ask George H.W. Bush if you ought to check your watch during a debate. That alone, elected Bill Clinton.

Ever heard of John Kennedy and Richard Nixon, and the debate they had in the sixties?

Nixon learned that makeup is rather important, and shaving before a televised debate is a rather good idea.

Trust me. These debates are very, very important.

This isn't a debate for the general election, this is a debate for the republican nomination.

People who watch the debates vote in the primaries.
People who vote in the primaries watch the debates.
People who care about America watch the debates.

EXACTLY.

Chewbacca supports Ron Paul.

You guys put the debates on youtube.

That's how I first heard Dr. Paul. :D

Oh, yeah, and there I was alone in my living room, applauding and shouting, Yes!
