when I told him that Cain was the President of the KC Fed Reserve... said he'd never heard that. I asked him why tha twas and he acted really surprised. Said he would def vote for Paul in the primaries, only downside is I'm in AL.

It's pretty sad that people would say they will vote for Cain and they don't even know about him being a chairman of the Fed Reserve. I bet these same people don't know that he flip flops on issues and supported the Tarp bailout.
people, at least know the candidate you are voting for. I guess we have to take on a new role of educating electorates.

I had a back-and-forth with a Cain supporter in the HuffPo comment section recently, and he/she was adamant that 999 is great because it makes the rich pay their "fair share". What they may not understand is the ramifications of the national 9% sales tax as one of the 9's.

Here's the argument I used: Suppose rich families only spend 5% of their income on taxable purchases, in which case they pay 0.05*0.09=0.0045 - or 0.45% - of their income into the national sales tax. Suppose poor families spend 50% of their income on taxable purchases, in which case they pay 0.5*0.09=0.045 - or 4.5% - of their income into the national sales tax.

I haven't heard from the supporter on this subject again.

He actually mentioned it on Cavuto this evening. I was kinda surprised. What annoys me is how much he refers to himself in the thrid person. I've always found that kind of thing disturbing.

The Herman Cain supporters are at least looking for a legitimate candidate. With just the right persuasion, they should be able to move to Paul pretty easily.

When talking to a supporter of another candidate be nice about it when talking about who they like. A good way to turn people off is to insult their opinion and get in a debate. The leadership institute has a political class on building coalitions in which they teach finding what you agree on and using that to gain supporters.

That's because you used logic and math. The reason people support Cain is because he's fluent and charismatic. A lot of Cain supporters I talk to don't even know the half of what he believes. I know what Ron believes better than Ron does (joking).
