Update (6/18/11 @ 5:00pm): We're almost ready. Please comment on the following letter template (thanks 1836, I used your suggestions in writing it). If you guys are cool with it, I will separate the list of House Republicans (which will also be updated to include more people) into batches for you to email.

Representative _______DAVE DEYOE______,

I would like to sincerely thank you for all of your service to the people of Iowa and _____STORY COUNTY_____. Your commitment to Iowa's conservative values have set you apart from many of your colleagues.

As you are much aware, Iowa is one of the most pivotal states in deciding 2012's presidential nominee from our party. While I certainly am pleased with our party candidates this election, one of them has stood apart from the rest for his integrity, commitment to the constitution, deeply rooted conservative values, and his ability to carry a win for our party against Obama in 2012. This person is Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is the pro-life candidate. Having delivered over 4,000 babies, Dr. Paul understand that life begins at conception, and will work to repeal Roe v. Wade for its assault on human life, something Dr. Paul has the record of bringing into this world. Ron Paul is also a firm supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and has always voted on the side of gun owners, earning himself many national accolades from conservative groups. Also, Ron Paul believes that marriage is a union between one man and one woman, and has defended the Defense of Marriage Act against Barack Obama's overreach of authority.
Ron Paul has never voted for a tax increase or an unbalanced budget, and has refused to take his own congressional pension. He has been called the taxpayers' best friend, a title he is most deserving of for his decades-long consistency in congress. Ron Paul is also the only candidate with military experience, being an Air Force veteran who personally understands the importance of maintaining a strong national defense. Unlike Barack Obama, he would never take troops into harm's way on "humanitarian missions" to appease international bodies such as the UN and NATO, and in doing so refusing to uphold the constitution.

More importantly in winning this election, Ron Paul knows how to get us out of our economic predicament. He predicted the collapse of the housing market in 2001 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48Gfzgxh3ZQ&feature=feedf), while congress and the candidates he went up against in 2007 laughed at him. Having a candidate who is a well read economist like Ron Paul will make Rep. Paul a most formidable opponent to Obama in 2012, when the economy will be the most important issue facing our nation.

While many have suggested he isn't polling well, he has actually performed much better in national polls than many of the candidates that are considered to be top contenders - Tim Pawlenty and Rick Santorum, e.g. In fact, in New Hampshire he was recently placed in 2nd in a Fox News sponsored poll. Though Ron Paul's victory will be a somewhat uphill battle, the support of Iowans like yourself ____Mr. DEYOE________, can help him attain victory. That is why I am asking you to represent our state and its values in endorsing Dr. Paul, and in doing so providing a better hope for our children's future.

Ron Paul currently has the largest key endorsements of any candidate in Iowa, meaning you would not be alone in this commitment; consider Iowa House newcomers Glen Massie and Kim Pearson, or Iowa State Central Committee members Jeremiah Johnson, David Fischer, A.J. Spiker, and Drew Ivers. All of them have joined in supporting Ron Paul, knowing that he has a realistic chance of winning not only the nomination, but also the presidency, and will bring with him the true conservative values of our Founding Fathers and great personalities like the late Ronald Reagan.

I wrote this long letter to you ____Mr. Deyoe___ because I know that you, as a representative of our district, can impact this 2012 election. Ron Paul can win against Obama: national polls have made this clear. He has political stances that appeal to more Americans than the other Republican candidates and even President Obama himself. Furthermore, his grassroots support is phenomenal, and would secure a new age of Republican youth, disenchanted with the present political landscape, into our party. If Ron Paul can carry a win in Iowa, he will demonstrate that he is a formidable candidate. I guarantee you he has the fundraising and grassroots power to carry this election for our party, but the support of someone like yourself will be a necessary first step.

Thank you ____Rep. Deyoe___ and keep up the great work you're doing for the district! Let me know how I can help.

Sincerely,

____NAME____

Original (6/16/11 @ 12:38pm):

The project:
I would like to propose one idea that may help the Iowa campaign. Let me know if this project is already under way. Dr. Paul currently holds the largest number of key Iowa republican endorsements: six. These endorsements will work to prove Dr. Paul's strength as a candidate in Iowa, something that many Iowans have reservations about. These endorsements can come in handy when the time comes to send out mailings, and generate much media publicity among Iowa newspapers if not in the national press. If we send emails to some of the Republican legislators and party figures informing them of their potential to change the course of the 2012 elections by supporting Dr. Paul, outlining some of his conservative points, and the fact that six of their colleagues have endorsed him, I think this may help move those who are on the border with Dr. Paul finally make an endorsement. If you folks have the time, would you be willing to help me email all of the key Iowa republican legislators, GOP committee members and others?

Please respond with you interest and whether or not you would be willing to send emails to the hundreds of names/emails I will be posting. If there is general support for the plan, I will update this post with their names and emails, along with an email template if interested. If there is very little interest in this project, however, I'll let it die and the moderators are free to delete the thread.

A big thanks for all the good that you do on this forum!

Peace.

I'm already working on a long list of sites to contact for the July 19th money bomb, but I agree. Everyone needs to do their share asap.

I'm already working on a long list of sites to contact for the July 19th money bomb, but I agree. Everyone needs to do their share asap.

Are these sites that you will be listing for Iowa legislators/GOP members, or are they for publicizing the money bomb?

For each of the early primary states politico maintains a list of who they consider to be important endorsers and real time status of which candidates they support

Might wanna check that

This is a good idea. But, it is important to remember that all four of the central committee members who have come out for Ron Paul (three as his campagin staff, then Jeremiah Johnson) were associated with C4L beforehand. We would have expected those four endorsements. Similarly, the legislators who have come out for Ron Paul were certainly on our side before they were elected and judging by that metric, we could expect a few more by the caucuses.

It does not change the importance of having those endorsements to point this out; but please remember in writing other GOP officials that they may need to be targeted on different, and particular issues.

My suggestions would be:

- Abortion. Ron Paul is the pro-life candidate, having delivered over 4,000 babies and advocating for the repeal of Roe v. Wade.

- Gun Rights. Ron Paul is a firm supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and has always voted on the side of gun owners and against bureaucrats who want to regulate your guns into obsolescence.

- Sanctity of Marriage. Ron Paul believes that marriage is a union between one man and one woman, and has defended the Defense of Marriage Act against Barack Obama's overreach of authority to ignore the law.

- Taxes and Budgets. Ron Paul has never voted for a tax increase or an unbalanced budget, and has refused to take his congressional pension. He has been called the taxpayers' best friend, a title he has truly earned.

- Strong National Defense. Ron Paul is an Air Force veteran who personally understands the importance of maintaining a strong national defense. Unlike Barack Obama, he would never take troops into harm's way on a humanitarian mission to appease international bodies such as the UN.

I would suggest that this kind of presentation of the issues is a winner in Iowa and for leading Republicans there.

Especially dealing with state legislators, the prospect of receiving more freedom to be able to govern their states would be an attractive selling point.

I agree that Pawlenty and Bachmann have a lot at stake in Iowa but we have some things in our favor as well: 1). passionate support (which Pawlenty does not have) and 2). More organization than we did four years ago. We just have to find our people and get them to the straw poll, that's all there is to it. Plus, Bachmann will be drawing from the same well as Santorum and Cain and Gingrich. I don't know if she'll havwe the hammer lock on social conservatives as Huckabee did.

Given the list from Politico (which I have no reason to doubt), it would seem that the Ron Paul campaign could actually hire some of this influence in Iowa, if they are that serious about it. Having a great ground game with Drew Ivers at the top is important, but what about political consulting?

Steve Grubbs
CEO, Victory Enterprises
A former state lawmaker and state GOP chairman, Grubbs now runs a Davenport-based political and corporate consulting firm.

Nicole Schlinger
President, Capitol Resources, Inc.
A fundraising and event management dynamo, Schlinger was a Mitt Romney backer in 2008. Getting Schlinger means getting a very coveted list.

David Kochel
Direct-mail consultant
A former state GOP executive director, now a Des Moines-based direct-mail consultant, Kochel is wired into state and national Republican circles. He was a top Mitt Romney consultant in Iowa in 2008.

Brian Kennedy
Political consultant
A former executive director of the Iowa GOP, Kennedy is now a consultant based in eastern Iowa. He has been a major player in the rebirth of the Scott County Republican Party.

Steve Roberts
Lobbyist
A former state GOP chairman and national party committee member, Roberts, now a lobbyist who frequents the statehouse, could be a valuable advocate for a candidate looking to make financial and organizational inroads in the state.

It would seem that the campaign could really do itself some good by hiring some of these traditional GOP players in Iowa.

This is a good idea. Shemdogg has a good suggestion, but I doubt the campaign will hire any of those people. We basically have no insiders on our side and I highly doubt we will hire any. As for writing legislators. It's best that these letters are personal and come from someone who lives in the district of the legislator. If they know outsiders are trying to influence them with spam mail, it will backfire. The letters shouldn't be negative or have rants in them, they need to come from the heart. Newspaper employees could also be mailed these letters.
