Help me. I want to leave the USA

If Ron Paul doesn't win, I will be leaving the country. I will only come back if a peaceful president is elected.

I refuse to live in a country where at least 20% of my work is taken and directed towards killing people in the Middle East (or anywhere else).
I've been thinking about this for a long time, and I doubt I'll change me mind. I am disgusted to be living in this country.

Right now I am leaning towards Canada for its proximity and outstanding foreign policy. I am open to all suggestions. I can live with socialist programs (there are no libertarian countries), so long as they are welfare for the poor.

Hong Kong is the ultimate place to move imo. I spent time there. Beautiful, and relatively free markets. Little government oppression. Everyone speaks English, street signs primarily in English, etc. Easy to get an English teaching gig for non-English speaking kids from the poorer Kowloon.

If you want relatively peaceful but can live with welfare, try Iceland, New Zealand, Denmark, Austria, Luxembourg, Norway or Sweden. At least Iceland can stand up to the Euro bankers. Switzerland is good.

My ancestors braved several weeks/months on rickety wooden ships to get to a land where they had almost no idea what was waiting for them, certainly not indoor plumbing, grocery stores or a welfare system. I'd feel like I'd be letting them down if I didn't do what I could to preserve at least a part of America in the tradition of personal responsibility and a strong community.

Certainly not going to move to some land where I am an alien.

Yeah, I have ancestors that came over on rickety ships (as indentureds, late 1600s/early 1700s).

Hubby is descended from Mennonites who came here from Russia/Ukraine.

In both instances, our ancestors left one place - where they no longer felt comfortable - in order to seek a new home, where they were aliens but where they felt more comfortable.

I figure we have a long history of moving when the time is right.

For us, the time is just about right.

Whether to leave or stay is an individual decision, and I don't fault individuals for deciding something different than me.

It is really hard to predict how things are going to work out. Even with Ron Paul as President, some kind of serious upheaval is likely, but the outcome is uncertain. It is very possible that the global empire will come to an end as a result of economic collapse. Economic conditions may thin out the federal government domestically as well. Or we eill end up living in the Fourth Reich. Until that collapses. Etc.

In other words, don't panic.

Outstanding foreign policy? Our Prime Minister is a Zionist and "will defend Israel at any cost". We dropped bombs on Libya, are in Afghanistan and are part of NATO.

It is a myth that Canada is a socialist country. While we have socialized health care insurance like the rest of the world, the welfare system is pathetic. Welfare is not easy to get, they make you jump all kinds of hoops to get it, and what you do get is not even enough to cover housing costs in most major cities. Many people with legitimate needs, such as the disabled, are often refused benefits. Items such as food stamps don't exist to my knowledge. My home town is now ahead of Hong Kong in having the highest real estate prices to income ratio in the world. Canada is not a great country to be poor in.

Having said that, aside from Canada Revenue Agency (our IRS), I feel very free here, love living in Canada and wouldn't live anywhere else. But, then again, my earnings are in the top 2% of the population.

Iceland - a free country in every way (especially after they said NO to the bankers),the only downside is that you should be ready for an eternal winter .
New Zealand -a free country as well but the downside is that is terribly underpopulated
Denmark,Austria - both are conservative and are in the middle on every issue but in any case great to live in
Norway and Sweden - if you are truly a RP supporter the first is definitively a NO and the second is a maybe .
Switzerland may look good on paper but anyone who has even passed on their airports knows what is their stance on social issues.

I think that you should also consider Estonia,Finland,Czech Republic,Slovakia,Brazil,Argentina,Uruguay,Angola, Kazakhstan and South Korea.

Unless you denounce your citicenship, you will still be obligated to pay taxes, and you'll likely reside in a country under some sort of US/UN influence.

Your tax dollars will also continue to fund the "spreading of democracy".

IMO, its better to stay and fight.
