The landmark US healthcare reform bill must be sent back to the House of Representatives for approval after two issues were raised by Republicans.

During an all-night voting session, two points relating to student loans were found to violate Senate procedure, said an aide to the Senate majority leader.

They were described as "relatively minor provisions".

They will have to be deleted, approved by the Senate and then sent back to the House for approval.

I don't get it. Everyone says the bill is already law. It's blatantly obvious that the House members and the President don't care what the Senate thinks. I'm surprised they haven't abolished the Senate for being disobedient to the Chosen One. After all, they're only playing by majority rules. They could make up some new rule where the House and Senate vote together, and 435 is greater than 100, so they could easily get the votes to do away with the Senate. Isn't rewriting the rules fun?

I know how much they hate that states have equal representation in the Senate, anyway. It goes against the ideals of mob-rule. This is an abomination in the eyes of Nancy Pelosi and must be done away with at once.

This is just the reonciliation package. It amends the law that was already passed. The GOP has picked apart a lot of the bribes and kick backs that were given to Dems for their votes. The GOP is still working on doing this.

Isn't it futile, though? The democrats have already proven that they'll get whatever they want, 'procedures be damned.' It's 51% versus 49%. This 'reconciliation' package is just a dog-and-pony show.

Since the Senate has 41 Republicans they can filerbuster(sp). This allows them to pick a lot of stuff out. And they are doing that.

It means that it's going back to the House and we know which Democrats will vote for it.

No, that's not true. The Parliamentarian ruled that the Student Loan stuff didn't qualify as legislation eligible to be included in the reconciliation process and therefore that stuff must be stripped out and the bill must pass again. I have no delusions that it won't.

There is no filibuster in reconciliation.

GOP is picking things out though

People should call Stupak's bloc of dems and hound the crap out of them. Remind them the executive order does nothing. Put the guilty consceince on them.

There is a difference between civil rights and natural rights

While there is only one Truth, legal precedence is many. And what is the opposite of the Truth?
As the Lord's New Covenant replaced His prior Ten Commandments, so by natural law does the people's Civil Purpose supercede all legal precedence, all past traditions, and every future event yet to occur.
Civil rights for the sake of civil rights are no better than an absolute dictatorship. Indeed, while such legal precedence is better than animal rights, the goal of the people is to elevate Civil Purpose above the evil condition of prostitution.
Without the light of the Truth revealed by the Lord's New Covenant given to the disadvantaged in the New Testament and the natural rights that our Founder's declared as a Truth established on natural law, the civil rights established by legal precedence are worthless. In essence, civil rights are quite informal in comparison because they are dependent on how much light is shined into the soul of tyranny -- as in the head of tyranny our Founders established with it being necessary to serve the people's Civil Purpose.

Uncle, I plead ignorance. I have no idea what you just said.

If I had to guess, I'd say that you basically are saying that we shouldn't give a damn what comes out of Congress, because their laws don't defy natural laws.

—I'm with you on that.

I still think this whole 'reconciliation' process is just a charade. I watched the signing ceremony. The accolades and worshiping that were tossed at Obama have me convinced that if he had simply signed a piece of paper that said 'free healthcare for all' on it, you would have thought they'd seen Obama turn water into wine, and his signature alone would be the only requirement for passing the bill.

We have a de facto dictatorship. There is no law-making process anymore. Congress does what the president wants.
