Hawaii Caucus Results, Could Ron Paul Get First Victory?

Thus, 17 of the state's 20 delegates are up for grabs.
David Chang, the state's GOP chairman, said an estimated a 5,000- to 10,000 will turnout for the caucuses. Roughly 45,000 Republicans voted in the past few GOP primaries.

Republicans will vote between 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday at locations across the state. Voters must join the party to participate.

Hawaii is 6 hours behind EST which means their voting is at 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. So the important question here is pull an all nighter or take a nap?

I hope so, however the islands are big for Romney for a reason -- Morman missionaries. As with southern evangelicals, they are organized in communities already. BYU has a university campus for the entire Polynesian rim on Oahu -- anyone who has gone to the Polynesian Cultural Center there is familiar with scholarship students.... who staff that.

They aren't the majority, but for a new caucus where no one on the island is used to the process, I suspect they will be a huge presence.

I hope our folks will be, as well.

We will see. In Idaho the BYU campus closed so students could see Romney speak and I am sure they were equally accommodating on the vote....

Mormons are good people and a win for Romney is a view that Mormons can be accepted as real people by the general populace. Mormons also have a high respect for the Constitution and feel it is divinely inspired- thus the general Mormon belief is that Romney thinks so too.

However, once a Mormon is shown Ron Paul and gets a little education on what the Constitution really says, they become avid RP supporters. It's just a matter of educating them in time. The bad news is that there's not a lot of time left- the good news is that Mormons are the most organized people on the planet and can spread the word like wildfire, once they wake-up.

I was raised mormon, and even participated in baptisms for the dead. We didn't baptize corpses. Although I can see why there would be commotion surrounding such a poorly named practice. But hey, it's what it was. Anyway, HI has a large Mormon population. Mitt should do well. I just hope Dr. Paul does better.

indeed, and they're even more fun to mock as they take themselves even more seriously than even most religion-followers

I'm obviously not big into religion, but I'll give the followers props for admitting they believe on faith, which is far beyond where the man-as-gods science-as-religion crowd will do. There's a clear inverse correlation between the understanding of science and the exaltation of its results.

Ron Paul supporters are very dedicated. They will drive a 100 miles to see him at a rally. They will sign wave, post all over the internet - "Ron Paul 2012" and religiously do online polls. Only downside....they don't go to the polls that count.
