I saw both versions. I showed some people the first version and they said it was boring. I had to agree, and I was thrilled to hear about the updated version. I bought ten copies!

I saw the original, it really energized me and inspired me, but I was already a Ron Paul fan when I saw it.

It might convert some, I think its really good at inspiring or energizing people that are already fans or maybe on the fence.

I liked the video a lot. I also feel that this video is great for the person that is already a supporter. It would not do too well converting the average GOP primary voter in Iowa though. A shorter, comprehensive video of all his positions would be great. The two areas the campaign needs to go after are foreign policy and electability. I would recommend contrasting those two issues with clips referring to Rand and Reagan respectively. Other than those two positions, Ron would already have this in the bag.

I was at the premiere of that movie at the Campaign for Liberty event in Valley Forge. It was great seeing it in a theater full of supporters after an extremely exciting and extremely heartbreaking presidential campaign. It kind of gave me hope for the future, which is now.

I think the one thing it does do well is show the passion that politics is capable of producing, which hasn't been done before, at least in my lifetime. It may get some people to ask "What are these people going on about?" and look further. It certainly can't hurt.

This is what was going to go in the super voter mails right? I watched it... it was interesting, but I was highly skeptical of it converting FOX news viewers in Iowa to vote for Ron Paul. If anything... not to be pessimistic, but it hardly highlights RPs principals, or positions. I found it out of place for "converting" people, maybe young kids but not your average supervoter.

This was going to go in the super voter mails. RevPAC has changed their mind after we donated $75,000.

It's great for apathetic friends who don't understand why I am so into it. Everybody I know who has watched it enjoyed it. I don't see how it could hurt for a supervoter to watch it, I question the potential of ever converting anyone who would come away from that movie with a negative impression.

i've watched both the recut and the full version and everytime i watch it, it just makes me cry.
I showed the flick to my sister and i got her converted from a democrat to an active Ron Paul Volunteer/Supporter. :D

Watching that made me sort of miss the elections 4 years ago. It seemed like there was more ethusiasm and creativity than there is now. We have more mainstream support now so this go around is better but things just felt more energized 4 years ago.

That seems to be my accessment as well, but at least the seeds have been planted from four years ago which seem to be giving us the rise in the polls that we lacked last time. The grassroots that are still active just needs to keep digging deep and hopefully we make this work.

"Not the best" is an understatement. It won't convert a single person, ever.
Agreed. It may convert someone who is close to supporting Ron, but not a truly undecided voter.

I've watched the full film as well as Recut, and would not suggest an undecided voter watch either. It's clearly a video geared toward supporters... too much speaking to the choir, Rah Rah Ron Paul! Not enough facts, quotes, outtakes from debates and interviews... it doesn't give you a reason to vote for Ron. Ron has had so many compelling performances over the years--For Liberty oesn't do him justice.

If RevPac has a bunch of dvds on hand, they should send For Liberty to the full list of 07-08 supporters. Get them feeling nostalgic and enthusiastic about the campaign again. Stick with the brochure and Woods letter for supervoters.

I believe it is important to know your audience and make the best impression you possibly can. Can it bring in new voters or convert voters to Ron Paul. If you feel we can do better than "For Liberty" please explain how we can make it happen.

This was my first viewing of the video and I really liked it. Like many others, I DO think this video will be a useful tool for undecideds. I saved it to the list of videos I've been collecting for the friends and family I'm proselytizing. I see if as being potentially very powerful for my set of fairly politically active folks.

But you asked for suggestions so I'll throw out the few that came to mind.

1. Although I found the intro effective (perhaps shave a couple seconds off the buzz of voices) and loved how Paul's voice comes on top of the cacophony, using last campaign seasons clips and players sets a historic tone. I know. The transition about looking at records and history is there. I guess, I'd just look at switching up the transition to leave the viewer with a here-now feeling as we first hear Paul's voice.

2. I'd appreciate the sources' names a little more prominent. I always read those carefully to get some idea of how much cred I'm going to give a source. When the script is small, the viewer may assume you're trying to obfuscate a source's background or expertise. The ones I read didn't give me that sense. But perception is important, at least to me.

3. The ending bit that relates the film to today, the part that's only written, could use a beef up. Have a great voice read the text. Sure put the words up if they look good as quotes, but use a consider using an image as background if the words themselves aren't artistry. I haven't gone back to look, but it seemed like there were at least two quotes that visually stunning enough to warrant a black background.

4. Because so much of this film is about the excitement and ingenuity of the grassroots folks, it seems fitting to get a strong join-us message near the end.

5. In the first third or so, the video feels a bit head jumpy. It takes the viewer, perhaps, a bit too long to figure out where he's standing and thus risks the off button. Especially for the unconverted. If that makes sense.

But, like I said, I think it's a great video AND a great conversion tool as is.

I think it goes a long way toward fighting the perception portrayed in media. It shows the other side, and can't be forgotten. I'd guess anyone who has seen it doesn't see media coverage of Ron the same way ever again. I think it's a good supplement at the very least.

Saw first 20 minutes. Looks like a bunch of homeless people telling everyone to support Ron Paul. Not a good thing.

Yes, I've watched it and as a new Ron Paul supporter (discovered him in late 2009/early 2010) felt that it was intended for old Ron Paul supporters from the 2008 campaign to reminisce about. I did not think it was geared for newer supporters of Ron Paul or undecideds.
