Have you heard of the ASK Campaign?

I recently heard a commercial telling people to ask about guns before taking children to other people's homes. Struck me as a way to create conflict, and a standard leftist tactic. Apparently this has been around since 2000...

ASK Campaign

ASK (Asking Saves Kids) is a campaign that encourages parents to ask if there is an unlocked gun in the homes where their children play. This simple question can help prevent unintentional shootings and firearm suicides, which are significant risks when children have access to guns in the home.

The campaign was launched in 2000 at the Million Mom March and is now a key part of Brady's End Family Fire program.8 It promotes the idea that parents should ask about gun storage in the same way they inquire about other safety issues, such as allergies and supervision.

June 21 is designated as National ASK Day, marking the start of summer when many children are out of school and spend more time at home or visiting friends. Congressman Jason Crow introduced a resolution to designate this day to share the message of safe firearms storage and encourage parents to ask if their children will be visiting a home with an unsecured gun."

Ask About Guns

The ASK (Asking Saves Kids) campaign promotes a simple idea with the potential to help keep kids safe. Ask, "Is there an unlocked gun in your house?" before sending your child over to play.

Yeah, it's been around for awhile. When my youngest had friends over, the liberal moms used to ask. The dads NEVER did.

To be fair, I can see the concern from their point of view. They've been told for decades how those evil guns will kill kids so they want to understand their kids' exposure before sending them out. The same moms that check their kids' candy on Halloween or are afraid of kidnappers lurking in every shadow.

I'd just say, "There may be a few around here, but they're all locked". Never specifics. And they never ask more details because they don't know what they're talking about.

Well, there's an endless list of things that could happen. Swimming pools are particularly dangerous, but small children could drown in a toilet or bucket of water. Dangerous chemicals in children's reach? Pit bull dog?

This ASK campaign is purely political, with a goal of causing confrontation. Similar to asking people's vaccine status during Covid. They are choosing a subject for it's political status.

Next up: do you own a Tesla? You have to sell that before we can come over.
