Hasta La Vista-CNN to end Piers Morgan's show

Good riddance. There's enough irrational, poorly reasoned nonsense in political media as it is without him continuing to add to it. Not that the landscape is going to be all that much different with him gone, still glad to see him go.

CNN itself is on it's way out. Piers Morgans is just the beginning.

While CNN is still on the cable dial, replace Piers with a nighttime show hosted by Ron Paul, who I hear is free these days.

I honestly wouldn't mind watching a Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich hosted show. Add in Kucinich to give it a "right/left" balance.

That show never fit, it would probably have done better on HLN after Nancy Grace. The reason Larry King was able to stay on for so many years is because he could get the interview with anybody. Not just tabloid celebrities, but heads of state. Only other person like that nowadays is Oprah.

I just saw this elsewhere and came to look for the thread. I knew it would already exist and all I can say is, what a shame! Goodbye Piers, you won't be missed. :D

Maybe he'll guest on Alex's show now? "Piers talks about his new AR15 with 100RD drum mag"

Its a shame too... The anti-gunners have lost their most eloquent spokesperson.

Piers Morgan Admits Gun Control Advocacy Led to Show Being Axed

After his show was axed by CNN, television host Piers Morgan admitted that his relentless advocacy for gun control was the primary factor behind plunging ratings that led to the decision to shelve the broadcast, proving that Americans will not tolerate the establishment media undermining constitutional freedoms in concert with White House talking points.

Asserting that his show being canceled had nothing to do with recent revelations that he had been interviewed by police over the phone hacking scandal, Morgan admitted, “Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it.”

After taking over Larry King’s spot in January 2011, Morgan’s viewing figures have been on a steady decline, sinking to just 50,000 viewers among adults aged 25-54 for his February 18 broadcast.

Morgan undoubtedly attempted to capitalize on the unusually high ratings he enjoyed in the immediate aftermath of radio host Alex Jones’ appearance by continuously pushing the gun control angle.

Here's Jeremy Clarkson's response:

Jeremy Clarkson has suggested he is more than a little bit smug following the news that long-time rival Piers Morgan has had his prime time show dropped from CNN.

The Top Gear presenter, 53, took to Twitter this morning to comment on the US television network's decision to axe Piers Morgan Live.

He wrote: "I'm feeling strangely contented this morning. I wonder if something wonderful has happened somewhere."
He later tweeted: "I understand that Nigerian TV is looking for a new chat show host. Anyone got any suggestions?

"Hmm Morgan has told us for years that his ratings are sky high. So obv he wasn't sacked that reason. Why else could it be I wonder?"
The pair have been embroiled in a well-documented feud for more than a decade, following revelations about Clarkson's private life in the Daily Mirror when Morgan was editor.

In 2004, Clarkson punched Morgan in the face at the British Press Awards, which Morgan claims left him with a scar above his left eyebrow.

Responding to the announcement from CNN on Twitter today, Morgan, 48, posted a YouTube video of the Monty Python cast singing Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

He later tweeted: "Humbling to bring such happiness to so many people today. Coming 3rd, as I've always said, is not a trophy. #MorganOut #CNN"
