I did a search on the forums and could not find a thread where this particular method was discussed. It's employed across the board on campuses, on message boards, commentary on news articles, the comments on Digg, YouTube and, now here.

Here's a link to the 131 page document: http://www.muzzlewatch.com/wp-content/wujshasbara.pdf

Muzzlewatch has this to say about it:

Handbook. You can download your very own copy right now - this one, by the World Union of Jewish Students, is from 2002 and aims to help students make the case for Israel.

You could, the book suggests, try one of two methods. You could engage in real debate or you could “point score.” As it says on page 9 under the title “How to score points whilst avoiding debate”, and no I did not make this up: “Central to point scoring is the ability to disguise point scoring by giving the impression of genuine debate. Audience members can be alienated by undisguised attacks so all point scoring needs to be disguised.” Try as I might, I could not find Alan Dershowitz’s name listed as a writer, or at least the inspiration.

Here's a few other folks thoughts on it:

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article23044.htm
http://laura-knight-jadczyk.blogspot.com/2007/01/hasbara-shmuel-rosner-and-israel.html

It's essentially the government of Israel recruiting young Zionists from around the world to spread half-truths, misinformation, and the handbook is how to do so effectively in different venues.

Any thoughts? Additional information?

Do the Palestinians also have a handbook? I'd assume so but I can't find one.

Israel's Propaganda Machine

Just for the record, if there were a single-issue poster here attempting to convince us that Saudi Arabia, Iran or even France was a 100% wonderful country and any who criticize it are evil and wrong, I'd be just as annoyed.

So, here's more on their propaganda machine and how it works:

Some of their internet organizations:

I'm sure there are others I'm missing as well.

And no Cowlesy, I'm pretty sure the Palestinians don't have a propaganda handbook! :p

Hahahaha... amazing how just the other day one of the Mods (Cowlesy?) called out ElyaKatz for 1-issue posting, avoiding debate and relying on point scoring.

I'd be willing to bet ElyaKatz helped write this handbook.

By the way Kotin, I found this video on how to make bagels and his recipe and method is pretty close to my grandfathers. The recipe I have differs only in the quantity of yeast (mine has less), flour (mine has more), and the temp of the oven (I think his is 400, whereas mine is 450).

Okay, maybe I'll stop hijacking my own thread now. :)

This is a great post.

The Jewish Zionist propaganda machine is so vast it's nearly unbelievable. Some would call you crazy just for stating the facts about its size.

The FED, that illegaly controls our money, Nearly every major TV network that can filter our news, Hollywood, you name it. Just dont' DARE speak it or you're branded "anti-semetic"

Ya gotta give it to them, they leave no stone unturned. YouTube is under the thumb of the ADL and specific channels/videos are attacked under the guise of "anti-semitism."

Ironically, their actions create more anti-semitism, but that's actually a good thing for them because they now use that anti-semitism in order to justify doing whatever they want and further suppress freedom of speech and use the machine to continue to build support among the majority of people who only get the superficial news.

Despite the accurate reports that came out about Israel breaking the cease-fire with Hamas, I don't doubt that the majority of people believe that Hamas broke the cease-fire.

Woah. I read some of it and it's far, far worse than the Hasbara Handbook. I knew Luntz was a neocon and loved pushing misinformation, but I didn't realize he was a Zionist as well.

Nice of him to let us know what line of crap they'll be using, so we can be ready, though. Which is quite an aid in this department:

FU FRANK!

Fair and balanced. Here we see that he doesn't even try to be...

I really hope we never see any discussion about how bad Israel or the Palestinians are on these forums. We are supposed to be neutral when it comes to the affairs of other countries.

We are supposed to be neutral when it comes to the affairs of other countries.

No, our government is supposed to be neutral. Individual citizens have the right to an opinion, and if they want to donate money or weapons to Israel then they have that right. Just don't force me to pay for it.

When they use their propaganda on us and our government, it is our concern. There was no discussion by me of whether or not Israelis or Palestinians are bad or good, I'm talking about the propaganda machine and misinformation used to sway others into supporting them financially, militarily and in the court of public opinion.

What Points To Make

Point scoring needs to be focused. Because the people listening to 'point scoring' are only
paying partial attention, only two or three points have a chance of 'sticking'. For this reason,
focus point scoring on a few points supporting Israel, and a few points pointing out
weaknesses in Palestinian positions.
These points should be made again and again, in as
many forums as possible. If people hear something often enough they come to believe it.
Attempts to make too many different points will result in the audience remembering nothing.

LOL, that's a pretty bad choice of phrasing

I think they said exactly what they meant.

I have to say I'm horrified and intrigued. It reminds me of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. It horrifies me to know how organized the opposition is, but intrigues me . We should have literature like this available.

I've been reading the book but have yet to see where they are promoting any kind of propaganda.

If we lived in another country, I'm sure we would appreciate having a book like this one, we could refer to when people publicly attacked our country.
