Or merely capitalizing on a shift in mentality in regards to their viewers?

discuss :)

I think the answer is probably both.

They haven't changed in the sense that they're still more or less touting the national republican party line. They have changed in the sense that that party line has changed dramatically since the network's inception.

Edit: I ain't going to hate, though. If them trying to capitalize on what they see as simply a marketable audience means that they give a platform to napolitano and stossel, as well as lew Rockwell and various members of the reason staff, then fine.

good answer. I think similarly to that.

If FoxNews has changed (haven't watched enough to say for sure) then it is probably only comparable to how the Republicans in Congress have changed with a Democrat in the White House.

When not in control of the White House (espcially when they don't control Congress either) - Republicans often preach for smaller gov't and less intervention. But once a Republican takes over the White House - they forget quickly.

So see how FoxNews acts if a Neocon-esque becomes Prez someday. Then you'll have your answer.

The media appear to be wings of government parties, with the government pulling the strings when things get hot. Although that sounds a little tin foil-ish, it's the basic direction of the coverage. MSNBC driven by DNC talking points, FOX by RNC talking points. But Fox Business does have Freedom Watch (and Stossel), which doesn't fit my analysis.

CNN is basically funded by leftists, but try to be neutral with their coverage, while failing miserably.

They are a business no different from any other. Does Nike make the same shoes they did 3 years ago or do they make shoes that people like today and will buy?

Well, they still have Beck, Hannity, and O'Reilly as their main attractions, so I would say no.

They are currently in the privileged position of being in the minority so they don't have accountability. So they allow the Judge and Stossel until they are back in power with a specific agenda. They will betray those of us in the Liberty movement that are dumb enough to trust them at key points, such as invading countries for resources...etc.

It's mutual benefit, we need the platform, and FAUX needs the credibility. Shows for Nap and Stossel have been effective in keeping us from slamming the network like we used to. It's good business sense to keep on the good side of the informed bloc. And there are bridges with our philosophy to any businessman.

I never thought I would live to see the day when a hard news story was followed by the anchor, with teen-aged facial expression, responding: ".....and what's up with THAT?!?
CNN may be liberal, but at least they are manned by adults.

Are you referring to something in particular? Otherwise, with the exception of Freedom Watch on FBN, I don't have any idea what you're talking about. Didn't they just purposely try to sabotage RP's CPAC win with false video only a few weeks ago??

Read the post above yours.
Faux has dumbed down their newscasts to such an extent, its unintenionally funny. MSNBC has done the same.

Stossel, the Judge...Beck SEEMING more libertarian...

I'm no fan of Fox News by any stretch of the imagination, but I am a huge fan of Stossel and and Napolitano...

Does Rupert Murdoch still own and control Fox?

If your answer is "Yes" then my answer is "No. Fox news hasn't really changed".

My opinion is that Fox is trying to lure us in so that we can be slowly manipulated through subtle changes to our thought process.

Chance of a link? I'd be interested in seeing this.

Considering this very recent attempt by FOX to manipulate I was also perplexed as to how OP has come to some belief that FOX has changed...

two networks, two target markets; Fox news for neo-cons, FBN for libertarians. at some point they will probably change the name of FBN
