Expected.

Right now RCP has 8 Senate seats that are toss ups. If the GOP wins 5 of the 8 they can take control of the Senate and then it doesn't matter what Reid wants.

Harry Reid vows Federal Transparency Act will never be voted on in the Senate

Supporters of Rep. Ron Paul and sound monetary policy rejoiced online as they heard of the passage of H.R. 456, the Federal Transparency Act, on Wednesday. Their joy, however, was short-lived as within an hour of the bill passing word spread from the office of the Harry Reid. The Senate Majority Leader and Nevada Democrat has vowed the Federal Transparency Act will not be put to a vote in the Senate.

Harry Reid had previously expressed support for an audit of the Federal Reserve. Perhaps seeing the overwhelming support the H.R. 459 received in the House of Representatives made Reid wary of the Federal Transparency Act passing. H.R. 459 passed by a bipartisan vote of 327-98.

Ron Paul supporters have already begun to get active online, sharing the contact information to Harry Reid's office. One supporter called his office instantly, claiming that he would be encouraging his friends to vote Harry Reid out of office.

I'm all for Bills taking his.

But without Ron in the House they might find an excuse not to bring it up there. We have to push now.

Would be nice to pass it in the Senate and leave it up to Obama around the middle of October...

If enough Senators sign a discharge petition, Rand can bring it to the floor for a vote too. That's what he's planning to do with the Pakistan aid bill.

I am sure there are some in the House that would bring it up, but it wouldn't matter really. Rand would be able to reintroduce his bill in the next session.

As far as Bills, it looks like a long shot. He is 31 points down in a poll that was done in the last week. Not insurmountable though.

The best shots as I see it are FL, MO, MT, NV and ND. Of the rest MA and VA look very tight. Sadly, in WI Thompson polls best against Baldwin, and he is the least of the three in the GOP primary that I would want to see win.

Dear Senator Corker. As you are aware, Congressman Ron Paul's audit the fed bill just passed with a veto proof majority. Now is your time to stand up and be counted on the right side of history and support S 202 which is the senate version of the audit the fed bill. Our government needs transparency more than ever. And such transparency means that no agency of the government should be above complete and open scrutiny and that includes the federal reserve. In the past I've heard the argument that monetary policy is too important to be "politicized". Well monetary policy is too important to be secret. It is simply not acceptable for the federal reserve to be bailing out foreign banks and members of congress (and the general public) can't even find out which foreign banks were bailed out. The Barack Obama position that "When your neighbor's house is on fire, you don't try to find out what caused the fire." is no longer acceptable. (Was it ever acceptable?) Until we find out what happened with the financial crisis and what role, if any, the federal reserve played with a full and complete audit, we will be at the mercy of the tax and spend liberals who believe that mortgaging our grandchildren's children's future is the way to solve a financial crisis. Again I ask you to do the right thing and support S 202 without equivocation.

Harry Reid said today that Ron Paul's Audit the Fed bill will not be brought up for a vote in the Senate. Remind him of these words. Phone: 202-224-3542 / Fax: 202-224-7327

I dont think I've ever seen one man's phone number posted so many times on the internets, FB is loaded with his number. Harry Reid is getting bombed with calls.

I wouldn't be surprised if his phone number is trending right now

I normally would say only a Congresscritter's own constituents should call their office/write a letter/etc. But that dynamic does not apply to an officer of the whole house or committee chairman- particularly the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader (who is President pro tem of the Senate in all but title, I've long been of the opinion that they should hold that title for pres. succession purposes, rather than the most senior majority party member)
