Harry Reid Calls Cliven Bundy Supporters “Domestic Terrorists,” Fed Task Force Being Formed

Senator Harry Reid has escalated the war of words over the Cliven Bundy dispute, sensationally labeling the Nevada cattle rancher’s supporters “domestic terrorists” during an event in Las Vegas today.

During a ‘Hashtags & Headlines’ event at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Reid referred to Bundy supporters as “Nothing more than domestic terrorists,” adding, “I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism.”
[...]
“There were hundreds, hundreds of people from around the country that came there,” Reid said. “They had sniper rifles in the freeway. They had weapons, automatic weapons. They had children lined up. They wanted to make sure they got hurt first … What if others tried the same thing?”

Despite Reid’s characterization of Bundy supporters as “domestic terrorists,” the only violence metered out during the dispute was when BLM agents tasered and assaulted Bundy supporters during an incident on April 9.

No matter where you stand on the Bundy issue, Reid’s characterization of American protesters as “domestic terrorists” is chilling and a massive backlash is almost certain to follow.

Reid, the Senate majority leader who is in Las Vegas during Congress’ Easter recess, said he understands there’s a federal task force being set up in order to deal with Bundy, and Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie is involved as well.

Automatic weapons? That's news to me.

These people were defending private property, with arms that they are constitutionally entitled to bear, against thieves. I don't think it gets any more terroristic than that.

Well, it took them long enough. I expected the 'official' use of domestic terrorist to befall the Sons of Liberty much sooner. It seems the King and his court are agitated that the serfs aren't licking their boots. Too bad they only know escalation and violence which will lead to their eventual destruction. Picking up the pace now...

He says he's talking about Bundy's supporters. But I guess he didn't actually see any, because he described his own goons instead.

The only man I saw on the Highway Overpass did not have a sniper rifle. Just a semi-auto rifle.

The snipers were not seen. They were targeting the BLM snipers that were targeting unarmed protesters.

The Connection: Harry Reid and Sheriff Gillespie

Over the weekend many of us were following the events at the Bundy Ranch and wondering why Sheriff Gillespie wasn’t siding with the rancher.
In our discussion of the incident our very own tannngl brought to light the fact that Harry Reid was working on a deal with a Chinese firm to build a solar farm in Clarke County.
On March 20th, the LVMPD posted on their Facebook page a picture of Harry Reid and Sheriff Dough Gillespie after Harry presented Gillespie with the ‘Sheriff of the Year’ award.
Here is the statement from their page:
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid congratulates the sheriff! Today, LVMPD Sheriff Douglas Gillespie had the honor of being invited to the Las Vegas office of Senator Reid to receive an official proclamation congratulating the sheriff for being named “Sheriff of the Year” by the National Sheriffs’ Association.

The statement entered into the Congressional Record reads as follows:
Mr. President, I rise to honor Sheriff Doug Gillespie, of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, who was recently named the National Sheriffs’ Association’s 2014 Sheriff of the Year. The Ferris E. Lucas Award for Sheriff of the Year is awarded to recognize an outstanding sheriff for contributions made to improve the office of sheriff at the local, State, and national levels, and for involvement in the community above and beyond the responsibilities required. By this measure, I can think of no one more deserving than Sheriff Gillespie. His tireless service as sheriff has made the Las Vegas metropolitan area a safer and better place to live, work, and raise a family. Sheriff Gillespie has diligently served the Las Vegas community for 33 years as a metropolitan police officer, the last 7 as sheriff. Under Sheriff Gillespie’s leadership, metro has become one of only 72 intelligence-gathering fusion centers in the country. It has won the Webber Seavey Award, given for quality in law enforcement by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, for an outreach effort to strengthen police relations in the Las Vegas area. Metro is also one of only 32 departments to achieve the highest standard of accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. In addition to his position as sheriff, he has served in many leadership roles in other law enforcement organizations, such as board director of the National Sheriff’s Association Executive Committee, chair of the Homeland Security Committee for the Major City Chiefs Association, vice chair of the Nevada High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, finance committee chair for the Nevada Commission for Homeland Security, and president of the Major County Sheriff’s Association. On behalf of the U.S. Senate, I congratulate Sheriff Doug Gillespie on receiving the Ferris E. Lucas Award for Sheriff of the Year and look forward to the continuation of a career that has already made Nevada very proud.

Reid, knowing full well when the BLM would descend on the Bundy Ranch, already had the sheriff in his hip pocket by schmoozing him with an award. Furthermore, according to the National Sheriff’s Association, the ceremony to present these awards (there are additional recipients) is scheduled to be held in Ft Worth in June, yet Gillespie received his ‘official proclamation’ three months early.
They don’t come much dirtier than Harry or cheaper than Gillespie.

Doug Gillespie gets around - his link with the Erik Scott murder via the coronor's office and conducting a review of the shooting which was ruled (wait for it) justified.

http://www.erikbscott.com/

It has only been the adverse publicity that the Scott case, and several others, has focused on Metro and Gillespie, that has caused him to discipline, even fire, some particularly notorious officers, such as Derek Collings, as I reported in Update 10.2. and Jesus Arevalo. When the Metro union boss, Collins, threatened that any officer subpoenaed to testify at an inquest would take the Fifth, Sheriff Gillespie did nothing. In a professional agency, no officer would so much as think of saying such a thing. The mere idea that any officer would take the Fifth Amendment on the stand in testifying about his official actions would be unthinkable. It would destroy public confidence in law enforcement, such confidence being very scarce in Las Vegas. Not in Gillespie’s Metro; the unthinkable is policy.
Those familiar with the Scott case know the depth of the cover up: mishandling of evidence, tampering with and intimidation of witnesses, illegally searching Scott’s home and seizing his property–to say nothing of his murder–and the list of malpractice and potential crimes goes on and on.

I hope some our boys have tricks up their sleeves, if you get my drift.

They have to have a fed on the inside.

Hopefully, they feed them false info.

Fedcoats. Isn't funny that the document he took an oath had men who were called the same?
