Hamas attacks Israel

So you both "don't doubt" as "doubt" the reports?!?

.

The main thing I doubt is the massive scale of the amount of missiles fired (what was it 5000?).
Israel seems to monitor anything that happens in Palestine closely. I agree however that a smaller amount of missiles would've been possible (500).

When you saw that video did you see this as evidence that this really is a massive attack. Or did you think that this looks rather harmless (or even staged by actors) like I do?
I've seen some videos that don't really show an attack as massive as reported. Of course this doesn't prove that it DIDN'T happen either, but as I don't believe in anything I read in the news anymore, my doubts continue (I'm not sure though).

The reports on invasions over land and through paragliders seem impossible to me.

Maybe I'm wrong to think that Hamas are a bunch of wild savages without sophisticated weapons, and the Israeli army (and intelligence agencies) has the newest technology.

.

I think that the already starting blockade of food water and energy will be worse. Israel bombing food, blaming Iran.
It reminds of the starvation of Yemen that has only come to an end (did it?) because after BoJo and Donald were replaced, the UAE / Saudi oil sheiks couldn't get the supplies they needed to continue...

And while "they" never really succeeded in getting the Houthis called "terrorists", any Palestinian that will fight against "Israel" the coming period will be called a "Hamas terrorist" by our wonderful media!

Missle is an exageration of what Hamas shoots. They are literally steel pipe with fins tack welded on. I don't think any of the footage is faked nor the number of Israeli dead faked. The hangliders are totally plausible. My point is that none of this is even somewhat sophisticated or required much expertise foreign assistance or planning. In fact I think it suceeded because it was so primative.

What Israel does to the Palestinians is a war crime and a crime against humanity. They hold 2 million people in a prison. Not all of them are members or supporters of Hamas. But the way they are treated sure is going to make them sympathetic. What exactly are these people supposed to do? They are stateless and can not leave Gaza. Something like this was bound to happen.

As far as Hamas goes, yes they are terrorists. They killed civilians. The Israelis do the same things and worse and the media tells us we must support and arm them

Maybe I shouldn't write this without evidence...
I think it's more probable that Israel knew, either participating in organising "the attack", and the media stories, or letting it happen on purpose (Bibi is heavily criticised in Israel for taking control of the legal system).

Of course war in itself could be THE motive.

In the Kingdom of the Netherlands, caretaker PM Mark Rutte has been defending that the Israeli flag has been hoisted on Dutch government buildings.

Rutte responding angrily to reporters, who asked why the Israeli flag has been raised but not the Palestinian, that hundreds of Israelis were killed by terrorists, so it is not allowed to talk about anything else.

I agree, but that's not Ayn Rand's fault.

Sentient Void said this: "and she very strongly supported our interventions and invasions there. "

Where did she do that?

I suppose that depends on what you mean by "support".

I don't know whether she explicitly endorsed and advocated for this, that, or the other particular actions in the form of "interventions [or] invasions", but as far as I know, she never opposed or criticized them, either - and such actions would be simple and easy deductions from the things she did explicitly express. Whatever her opinion might be about today's goings-on, there is little reason to think she would disagree very much (if at all) with Peikoff, Brooks, et al. (There's a reason she made a big deal out of designating Peikoff as her "intellectual heir" - he was basically just her slavish mouthpiece.)

I just don't get into the gossipy side of who people knew, what they were really thinking, etc. I just read the books. I think her books, especially "capitalism the unknown ideal" are among the best books on liberty out there. Especially compared to some of the the silly anarchist stuff.

*shrug* You asked a question. I offered an ansswer.

Especially compared to some of the the silly anarchist stuff.

You keep bringing up "anarchy/ism", though I don't understand what that has to do with the the current Israel-Hamas issue (or what Rand's position on that issue might or might not have been). But since you mention it, I agree that "some [...] anarchist stuff" is indeed "silly". In fact, some of it is almost as silly as claiming that "big business" is "America's most persecuted minority".

That isn't the threat it used to be. We now have enough domestic oil production capacity to basically say oh well if they do. Sure it's a bit more costly but they can't threaten us with no oil anymore.

Good point, but then again Biden may cease drilling domestically in a bid to be re-elected. I can hear it now "America must pay it's fair share and go EV"

Read this headline and all I could think of is "Blowback". For all intents and purposes we are fighting proxy wars against Russia and Iran.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. has already begun delivering critically needed munitions and military equipment to Israel, the White House said Monday, as the Pentagon reviews its inventories to see what else can be sent quickly to boost its ally in the three-day-old war with Hamas.

John Kirby, a spokesman for the National Security Council, confirmed Monday evening that the first batch of military aid in the wake of the violent assault by Hamas militants is “making its way” to Israel.

The delivery came as President Joe Biden prepared to give formal remarks on the attacks from the White House on Tuesday afternoon, after he confirmed that at least 11 Americans were killed in the violence over the weekend.

“We fully expect there will be additional requests for security assistance for Israel as they continue to expend munitions in this fight,” Kirby said. "We will stay in lockstep with them, making sure that we’re filling their needs as best we can and as fast as we can.”
