Hamas attacks Israel

Personally I think that there’s no excuse for innocent bloodshed, but all in all my conclusion is that Palestinians have suffered more from the brave Israeli army, than Israelis from the cowardly Hamas terrorists.
Likewise there can be no excuse for a blockade of Gaza from food, water and energy…

I have sympathy for that statement. But let's consider they are deliberately targeting the innocent and vulnerable. They are not just fighting a war for a purpose, they are exerting maximum revenge. The Israeli army has the capability to flatten the entirety of Gaza in minutes, but they are restrained compared to what they could do. While nearly impossible in built up place like Gaza, I do believe they try to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible. When Hamas uses their own people as human shields that becomes more difficult of course, that's a strategy, but who's to blame then?

The closing down of water, power and food, is a good strategy on the side of Israel, is it humane, not really. But the people of Gaza need to remove Hamas themselves in order to have a peaceful future. It might help with that. And yes, I do think you cannot starve people to death, so some form of minimal supply needs to happen.

There is quite a movement to get psylocibin mushrooms legalized for medicinal purposes. Literature and word of mouth does suggest that microdosing might be very beneficial, stress relieving and good for general well being, without being psychedelic at all. Also, for therapy there may be benefits. Similar to MDMA maybe being the best medicine to use in PTSD therapy.

You too. I post a frickin' joke and you guys get all NPR documentarian on me. Lol.

I have no sympathy whatsoever for Hamas, but I think that Israelis are more to blame for the crimes of the Israeli army than Palestinians for the crimes by Hamas. Then again... if Israelis oppose the Israeli army there isn't anything they can do to stop it.

The only reason for "restraint" by the Israeli army is that public opinion could turn against them. Of course now with "everybody" seeing Palestinians as "terrorists deliberately targeting the innocent and vulnerable", the Israeli army will simply murder, as obviously this is what soldiers do when they are told.

What would you do? And I do think it's quite clear that Hamas is the issue not Palestinians in general.

Dead babies is always an effective war propaganda tool. It’s in big use today, as the claim is that all of the babies had their heads cut off in one kibbutz. Is it true? We may never know.

As they tell the story on Fox, it gets worse with every telling. Just now, it was 40 beheaded babies. The women on Outnumbered are losing it. It doesn’t look like they have a male on today.

At least 40 babies, some beheaded, found by Israel soldiers in Hamas-attacked village

Israel’s military has discovered unspeakable horrors in an Israeli community that was attacked by Hamas on Saturday, including dozens of dead babies, some with of their heads chopped off, Israeli media reported.

According to local Israeli outlet i24News, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers moved into Kfar Aza, the one of the communities Hamas terrorists invaded early Saturday morning, and discovered about 40 dead babies, some decapitated — highlighting the brutality of the invading forces.

If even Gaza and its population Palestinians get killed the public opinion in the near future might not good for the Israeli side.

Not mention they are still occpying Golan Heights a province of Syria..

After Gaza are they just going to stop?

With terrorism, as with all asymmetric political action, "the action is in the reaction of the opposition," as Saul Alinsky, the leftist activist, put it in his book, Rules for Radicals.

This isn't conspiracy stuff, nor impossible "4th dimensional chess" — it's just plain old, 2-dimentional chess. That's all:

Hamas, al Qaeda and similar groups slaughter civilians — beheaded babies or not, they certainly murdered hundreds and hundreds of innocent civilian Israeli non-combatants in this one (including an extended family member of mine) just as they slaughtered thousands on September 11th — for a reason, not simply because they are angry or devils. It's a tactic. They are trying to provoke a reaction.

They are trying to make you angry, to make you hate, even drive you crazy. Yes — Yes — for the purpose of making the more powerful force (i.e.: the USA, Israel) do even worse to their own people, such as getting the U.S. to invade Afghanistan and getting Israel to bomb the absolute living shit out of the Gaza strip. (Not that al Qaeda was from Afghanistan, but that's where they were and that's who they knew were gonna get it.) (Also, by the way, U.S. support for Israel's crimes in Palestine and Lebanon was a huge part of the motive for al Qaeda's war against the United States in the first place, including for some of the most important pilot hijackers and organizers of the plot.)

This then is meant to provoke still further counter-reactions. It "heightens the contradictions" as the Commies used to say.
It forces leaders of Muslim states and armed groups everywhere to take a stand. It destroys stability and negotiations and progress, radicalizes new groups and forces everyone back into the fight on one side or the other. It makes every sock-puppet princeling of the Gulf to take a stand in support like the Ayatollah or sell out in silence in the most embarrassing way, like Crown Prince bin Salman, etc., etc.

It's the same reason Bosnian Muslim forces butchered Serbs and Chechen Muslim forces butchered Russians and ISIS slaughtered Shi'ites: to provoke a worse crisis for everyone in the hopes that the overall situation changes to their advantage.

I would note that terrorism is usually as stupid as it is evil: See Bosnia, where they got less and less; Chechnya, Syria and Iraq Wars II and III where they lost outright. Osama's nemesis, the Saudi monarchy still stands, and with as degenerate a self-worshiper in the Crown Prince position as he could have ever feared. Hamas may very well not survive this.

But for Israel to completely destroy them would require a level of violence that the civilian population of the Gaza strip, one half of them under 18 years old — all of them trapped with no where to go — simply cannot withstand. Hundreds have already been killed.

The longer this goes on, the greater the danger to the Israeli hostages as well.

By widening the war into a full-scale invasion of Gaza, the Israelis risk spreading the war to a full-scale uprising on the West Bank, a fight with Hezbollah in Lebanon or even northern Israel, which could then lead to things going sideways in Iraq — where Bush installed a very Iran- and Hezbollah-friendly Shi'ite theocracy in power in Iraq War II — and who-knows what.

Powerful Muslim states who are friendly to Israel, such as Turkey and Egypt must be allowed to step in and play a negotiating role here. Stop reacting. And stop posturing like a bunch of little girls on ticktock. Pull the brakes before it's too late.

I know calling your Congressmen feels like pissing in the wind. But do what you can to make your voice heard and call for cease-fire and talks as soon as possible.

Ultimately the Palestinians must have independence or citizenship. Otherwise, as Ariel Sharon's man, former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said, they're left with an untenable apartheid state.

And the U.S. should stop sharing in the responsibility for this shame immediately by ending all aid and military support for the occupation — and for that matter in all cases, everywhere.

See also the numerous posts on my timeline regarding Likud and friends' preference for Hamas to rule the Palestinians of Gaza so Israel will not have to deal with them in good faith.
