South Carolina governor Nikki Haley says she is open to the idea of being the running mate to the Republican nominee for president.

Speaking on NBC's Today Wednesday, Haley said she's willing to have a conversation about running as vice president once a nominee is selected.

"If a candidate wanted to sit down and talk, I would sit down and talk," she said. "It's a big decision, it's a family decision. But absolutely, I would sit down and talk."

She also said that in her rebuttal to the State of the Union late Tuesday, she was taking aim at Donald Trump, as well as other members of the party and in the media, when she called on Americans to resist "the siren call of the angriest voices."

Not that I'm a fan of hers, but your reasoning here seems a bit selective (and perhaps inconsistent), assuming you haven't withdrawn support for Rand over the same issue.

(and fellow Republican) Nikki Haley that the Confederate flag should be removed from its previous place of honor on the grounds of the State House. In a radio interview this morning, Paul referred to the flag as “inescapably a symbol of human bondage and slavery,” as well as a reminder of Dylan Roof’s horrific murders:

“I think the flag is inescapably a symbol of human bondage and slavery, and particularly when people use it, you know, obviously for murder and to justify hated so vicious that you would kill somebody, I think that that symbolism needs to end. And I think South Carolina is doing the right thing.

I think it’s, obviously, it’s a decision for South Carolina to make, but if I was in South Carolina that’s what I would vote to do and I would recommend to anyone who asked me my opinion. There have been people who have used it for southern pride and heritage and all of that but really to I think to every African-American in the country it’s a symbolism of slavery to them and now it’s a symbol of murder for this young man and so I think it’s time to put it in a museum.”

She is articulate, ladylike, camera friendly, and conservative. I would love to see her up against anyone Hillary or Bernie would put forward as a VP candidate. She would make them look loud, obnoxious, old, pandering, and dated. This is a TV age. We need to think about that. The VP has to get on board with whoever is running for President. I think the Dems would look more stupid than they already to when Republicans put forth a woman, and a woman of color. That would be awesome.

Rand's compromise on the flag issue was a positioning move done to help him to prevail in what he thought was going to be an establishment-driven race. We all know better now, but he had spent so many months striking status quo, 'mainstream' poses (as defined by the PC regime), that he never anticipated the tactic might backfire in a change year.

Such caving (among many other examples on Rand's part) is precisely what undermined his ability to present as a true non-establishment figure, leaving a big lane open that Trump, Cruz and Carson filled. But for the party leadership to have not gotten the message given the clear hindsight view of the past year, as shown by their pushing Haley, is ridiculous.
