Guys, hang on a minute, they said there were two secret bands...

Well whatever helps get the message out to the country folks and crossover folks. To be honest I think the message is easier to swallow for the blues/rock/punk/alternative crowd. And more asses in seats is good too! :D

Actually, she's pretty well known in the States at least.

+1

Maybe the next big announcement will be exciting for the rock fans and will have the country fans saying, who??? ;)

If you don't know Sara Evans, you don't know modern Country music.

A note to all you Yankees: there's nothing "country" in "modern country music" - it's nothing but pop music with a dash of lap steel guitar, and a catchy lyrical hook - if you call that country, you ain't country. :D

Merle Haggard, Lefty Frizzell, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, (early) Willie Nelson, Dale Watson - THAT'S country music.

I'd rather NOT know modern country music. Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw are about as country as Ted Kennedy.

I reckon we'll take what we can get though, right? ;)

I'm hoping the second band is on the caliber of U2 for example.

Maybe we need the Dave Matthews Band. They sold out Soldier Field in Chicago two or so nights in a row for a total of like 200,000 tickets or something like that. I think it was a record at the time it happened.

+1, Somebody committed murder down on Music Row. If you like classic country music you should get Sirius XM, which has full channels dedicated to it. Give me Cash, Waylon, Nelson, and George Jones any day before most modern country singers (there are some lesser known ones who are good).

I'll go out on a limb and guess that John Mayer is the other one.. He's on tour until 8/31. Would that be big enough?

I think Marc Scibilia should play at the big event. Aimee Allen too. Adam Currey and Rick, not so much.

Who's playing at the RFL Target event?

Yes, I do remember Don saying that he was really close to sealing the deal with a legend in music (Evans????) and that he was working on someone else (Evans, or another????), so who knows.

I wonder if they are strategically releasing this info, and they already have the musical guests lined up. They're building up to the ultimate musical guest! Hey, I can dream.

I hope they realize that 3/4 of the crowd is going to be 18-30. Country music around here is a dime a dozen, might as well attend WE Fest for that. Can it be that hard to get a good rock group for one night?

Remember that guy at the beginning of American Blackout? That would bring the world!
Everthink about the names of the RNC and R4R venues? John McCain at the Xcel Center and Ron Paul is at the TARGET center.

sara evans, is sort of like pop country, not real country... like carrie underwood, or sheryl crowe... and yes when i was 21 she was really popular... and i don't listen to country (rarely, i like some of the old stuff, cash, hank, willie, waylan) but i knew who she was, and one of her songs "born to fly" was really popular, and it used to be one of my favorites (to sing at least)

we should have organized a Ronstock for freedom/peace when we had a lot more momentum many months ago. The march was nice, but if we had some real big name stars come out for peace unified with Ron Paul it would have gotten the worlds attention. Shame.

No, thats OLD PEOPLE'S MUSIC- most of those guys are dead, and the ones that aren't are ancient (Willie isn't going to hang on forever, even with the help of his magic weed). Thats the kind of country my parents (mid 70's) listen to...

Rock and Roll isn't just Elvis and Bill Haley anymore. Country isn't just Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard- old, raspy voiced guys groaning about how their favorite horse died while they were in prison.

Get with the 80's, dude...

I agree about the rock band, and I think it should be one.

I'm just wondering if the campaign chose the bands or if the Target Center chose the bands.

I don't think it is fair to blanket all modern country musicians as the same. There are plenty of neo-traditionalists out there and many of them get a lot of air play.
