Hi guys,

I know next to nothing about guns. However, I think I have reached the age where I am responsible enough to own one, and I would like to do so as a law-abiding American.

I have a slight dilemma though, and I'm wondering if anyone here has any answers.

Here is the deal - I'm a resident of Ohio, but I've been living in South Florida since June 2006 while attending professional school. I was wondering, should I register in Ohio, or in Florida? How would I go about doing so in either state?

Do you have to fill out an application or something? What are the requirements?

Like I said, I'm totally clueless, but I'm working to change that.

If anyone here can answer any of my questions, or even point me in the right direction with a good link, or whatever, please do so.

Thanks,

Mostly State law

The requirements for purcahsing and owning a gun are mostly a question of State law. For example, in Arizona where I live, no registration or permit is required and any gun that is legal under Federal law is legal under state law. But in other states, California for example, some kinds of guns are prohibited. In other states, like Illinois, a state permit is required for some kinds of gun ownership.

You will need to look into the laws of the states you are interested in.

we dont have gun registration, check out handgunlaws.us, a florida carry permit carrys its weight in plenty of other states.

Go to a gun store and ask the shopkeeper about it.

By the way, registration of firearms is an infringement of our Constitutional rights!
