I just filed the necessary paperwork to challenge RINO Renee Ellmers in the Republican primary for North Carolina's 2nd District.

You and I are charged with defending our Constitution and the vision of our founders. I cannot and will not stop fighting!

The newly drawn 2nd District is where thousands of my current and former patients live, work, and raise their families.

This is where my family lives, it's our home, and we are excited about the opportunity to take our message to Washington from the 2nd District!

Could have a chance, Ellmers has had some pretty close primaries and she was in the news for her affair with Kevin McCarthy. Is anybody else with money running or is this just between Brannon and Ellmers?

George Holding, congressman in the 13th district, is also running in the newly drawn 2nd district.

He's running for both the senate and the house? I thought he was running for senate already?

He lost the senate primary on 3/15. The house primary is on 6/7. The senate and house races are on two different dates due to a redistricting lawsuit.

Hopefully the two Senate runs have given him enough name recognition to win this one.

He has a much better chance in this one. Smaller area to cover..do-able. He was seen as a spoiler in the Senate race; there was already a conservative in the race endorsed by the Tea Party and Brannon jumped in at the last minute, once again splitting the vote. I don't know why he did that...

Well this is exciting, he might actually have a shot at winning this one, especially after running two senate campaigns.

Brannon would make a nice addition to Amash and Massie in the house...

Filing deadline closed today and the three candidates are:

- Greg Brannon
- Congressman George Holding
- Congresswoman Renee Ellmers

Holding represents a lot more of the new 2nd District than Ellmers so he's the candidate to beat. Holding has already been endorsed by the National Right to Life in this campaign.

No run-off. With two sitting congressmen running Brannon will have his best shot. Definitely better than his Senate runs. If Holding and Ellmers split the establishment vote and Brannon can match what he got in the senate primaries I like his chances with lower voter turnout. It will be very close though. If we help out with donations and phone from home I think he has a great shot.

In the six counties comprising the new second district here's how he did in the senate primaries:

2016
Wake - 32% (34k votes)
Johnston - 29% (6.5k votes)
Franklin - 32% (2.1k votes)
Nash - 23% (2.3k votes)
Harnett - 28% (2.9k votes)
Wilson - 24% (1.7k votes)

2014
Wake - 39% (16.3k votes)
Johnston - 34% (3.3k votes)
Franklin - 35% (1.3k votes)
Nash - 26% (1k votes)
Harnett - 37% (1.5k votes)
Wilson - 32% (0.8k votes)
