Great Job everyone today!
It was an excellent fund raising day, after things had been a bit dry lately.
There was some controversy about holding back donations VS giving now, I for one feel we should NEVER discourage people from donating. I think the campaign has a right to send out emails asking for donations NOW, that's the job of the fund raising manager right? It pushes us to donate now and not sit on our wallets, especially when many of us will donate for the big money bombs ANYWAY. Yes it's painful to give again just a few weeks from now, but that's what we do, we give until it hurts, and then we give some more, and then again. The campaign knows it, and it's a great job for them to keep pushing us.
The huckabee money bomb timing was just right! Little did we know about it, but once it was discovered it was great to see the passion and competitive spirit to outdue their efforts. I for one was part of that, and was happy to see so many supporters rally, catch up, and surpass their fund raising drive.
That's fun and great competition. But let's not overstep our bounds. No one can force you or make you act a certain way, but there is such a thing as etiquette.
I would hope most RP supporters wouldn't resort to trolling or mocking other forums. It doesn't reflect well on us or the good Dr. And even on our own forums, these aren't our own private areas anymore.
Ever since november 5th and the USA today ad story and other media stories, this forums address has been printed in many online and paper articles. We have all sorts of visitors: curious people, undecided voters, visitors from other GOP camps some nice and some not so nice. With that being said, I would hope we'd represent RP in a nice way. I'm glad we don't have moderator nazi's over here, it's great to be able to express your ideas, but with that freedom comes the hope that we also use good judgment.
Remember, there are tons of undecided voters out there and plenty of them are lurking and never posting. They may go from forum to forum to check out more information. I'd hope when we post we still come across in a positive light as to not dissuade people from joining the RP camp.
And while it was great fun adding some juice into the fund drive and competing with the Huckabee camp, it's not so cool to piss in their cereal. Some of them could very well lean towards Ron Paul. I know someone who's converted several Huckabee supporters into RP supporters. I'd prefer if we enjoyed our fund raiser, but not go over to their forum and troll about, not cool.
Remember, they get a ton more of free press because they are an approved mainstream top tier/dark horse/whatever. We actually need way more money, because our top tier status was forced onto the media with mind boggling fund raisers. We don't get the ton of free press, although we are getting more.
For the record, I thought the Chuck Norris ad was hilarious. It wouldn't make me vote for him, but I thought it was great.
You might say some of the Huckabee supporters will never follow RP so what's the harm? Well, an undecided could be lurking and if they see trolling and bashing from our end, that could be what turns them off.
Don't forget to pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Great effort today! We need to have a few more of these kinds of days and get to $10-$12Million BEFORE Dec 16th!! That way Dec 16th we can blow away ALL previous fund raisers.
