LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- U.S. Senate hopeful Trey Grayson says he wants to represent all Republicans and not just followers of the tea party movement - a clear jab at his main rival for the GOP nomination in Kentucky.

During a stop in Louisville as part of a trip around of Kentucky, Grayson said Monday that Republican Senate front-runner Rand Paul is "clearly overconfident." Grayson said undecided voters are moving toward him, not Paul.

Wow.

Well, I guess the guy has to say something. "Yeah, I suck, and I'm gonna lose" isn't really an option, even if it's the truth.

I do think we need to get the vote out and not become overconfident.

definitely.

grayson has said everything. earlier in this campaign he said HE had a lot of tea party support. of course he has to deny that this is a powerful voting bloc, otherwise he's certain to lose. im sure he is also "very confident" that he's going to win the nomination and the election, if you ask him on the record.

when randy quaid played the role of LBJ they had to do some hollywood make-up
to him and i swear young trey grayson is about to morph into a pot-bellied stove
version of LBJ in RINO get-up. grayson has been eating banquet hall food an' like
"mickey dees" the Republican rubber chicken circuit is VERY as in TRES FATTENING!

Yes, but I will also admit that I worry about too close an association with the Tea Party. It's risky business to be defined only in those terms. Of course, I'll defer to the campaign on this. Whatever they're doing seems to have worked so far.

How did Trey Grayson win two statewide elections?

Establishment voters. State office elections are held out of rotation with federal elections. This gives incumbents and establishment politicians an upper hand.

As an example, in 2007 when TG was last elected, the voter turnout was 36%. The next year, in 2008, voter turnout was 50%.

There are nearly 3 million registered voters in KY. TG received 5-600K votes in 2007.

No, no.... I mean how could the dems not defeat him in a state that is heavily democrat. He has run such a terrible campaign.

And yet Rand leads with every group that isn't liberal republicans.

Both of the Democrats he defeated do not appear to have had much as far as credentials. One was a Jefferson County commissioner which is Louisville so I would imagine they had little power while the other was the mayor of a small town in the rural south eastern corner of the state.

I heard one of them smeared Trey for being a racist. He purged voters in certain districts or something.
