Howdy ya'll,

I have been urged to share with ya'll one way some of us have attempted to get the word out about Ron Paul. We have set up a table at each of the area's gun shows.

When I was asked to help with the first show (in B'ham), I had already promised my labor to another vendor at the show. But, this vendor having 7 tables, I was going to have to be there Friday night to help set up, so I went ahead and helped setup the Ron Paul table also. There was a steady stream of willing volunteers to man the table for the weekend, and I could run back and forth to the RP table when needed, or when traffic slacked off enough that my other obligation was met.

I quickly determined that we needed something to attract people to the table. I thought "what can I use to get people's attention?". I very bright light bulb came on over my rebel head. =)

Only a 50BMG can adequately represent the type of liberty that Ron Paul typifies! I just so happen to own one, so on the table it went. This was the only 50BMG in the entire show, and a spent case, and a photo of my best groups (2.5" @ 700 yards) was accompanying her on the table.

Attention was attracted, and the willing volunteers grabbed the ears of interested parties and gave them slimjims and gun voting records for Rudy, McCain, Romney and Thompson, to be compared with the only real choice. Probably the two biggest issues on people's minds here are gun rights and illegal immigration, so many of those silmjims made it to the hands and bags of attendants.
Here's a photo from the first B'ham show:

All of the volunteers were awesome, and from varied backgrounds. We had a lady attorney, a veteran & Christian biker, an ex-Marine deadhead, family men & women, liberal arts student, father & son, etc!

At the end of one volunteer's shift the young liberal arts college student found me at the other vendor's table and showed me a 22 short German revolver that he had bought, and with anticipation he asked me to help him find ammo for it. So, I went around until we found what he needed. I had asked him "so, this is your first firearm?", and he said it was, that he wanted to get something cheap for around the house "just in case". I told him that if he wanted something for self-defense that I could help steer him to a more practical purchase. He said "yea I know, but today, I just wanted to make a point!" This was one of the best warm-fuzzy moments of my weekend. =)

All of the volunteers said that they had much more positive responses than they had anticipated, and thought that they had certainly won a few votes for liberty.

Soon after this B'ham show I learned of Victor Bean banning Ron Paul supporters at the Florida shows. I heard about it off of Alex Jones' radio show. This B'ham show was by Earnie Bean and his wife (I'm sure Earnie & Victor are related), and we had zero problems at the show, and are already scheduled for the next B'ham show on Jan 5-6 (also promoted by Earnie). I expect no problems in Bama.

By the 2nd one came around (Huntsville), I had drafted another Bighammer (code for 50BMG) buddy and we also had access to more C3 stuff than I could fit on one table. So, we decided two 50BMGs were more than enough on one table and based on the reactions from the B'ham show, would be plenty to awe and bring in the hearts and minds of the people. The AR50 & Model 99 were to be the only 50s in this show also.

Three gentleman including myself would work this table all weekend, with many volunteers showing up during the two days to bring us more give aways and help. We had very very positive responses in general, and my heart was warmed when several LEOs made pro-Paul, and pro-Constitution comments. There were many donations made to Paul on this weekend and many many yard signs and bumper stickers went out the door as well.

There was a man who asked us how Ron Paul stood on Iraq. We told him that Dr. Paul wanted to get us out immediately. The man sarcastically replied that he did not, but wanted us to stay until we won, and then go into Iran. There was another gentleman in front of our 8' table who was becoming visibly agitated at the words of the man standing beside him. This gentleman then pulled his long sleeve back to reveal a memorial bracelet and said "he wouldn't be talking that crap if he lost a son over there!". The warhawk soon decided to move on.... That, I shall not soon forget.

Here's some photos of the Huntsville show. They were taken before opening on Sunday (Tea Party!). I've been involved in the shows for over a decade so I can say that both these shows were busier than "average". Also, the promoter at this show (Jason something I think) was very positive and hospitible to us, even allowing us to put some homemade "Gun Owners for Ron Paul" banners on the fence at the entrance to the show venue.

If any of ya'll out there can get a table and fill it with serious (large and/or unusual) stuff, DO IT! Like it or not many of the potential voters have simple minds and will be affected by name associations. If "Ron Paul" is connected with "Big Guns", then we can only benefit.

We are working on video footage, perhaps class 3 stuff and the 50s to use in a series of videos we could put on a continuous loop on a laptop or DVD player. Look for updates from the Jan show....

Derek way 2 go!!! You guys head decimated the supply of Gun Owner slim jims. Absolutely fantastic.

Awesome... wonderful story. Thanks so much for all that work. I love the way your stand looked! :)

Great job folks! This is exactly what we need. That's so awesome that you had all of their voting records to show!! I bet you converted everyone that came to your booth.

I've worked a lot of trade shows and I know they can be very exhausting. Thank you so much!

Derek you guys rock! Gotta love my home state! Liberty lives in the heart of Dixie.

WTG -

Our meetups have done gone shows here, too, and they are a great audience!

I LOVE the big sign having on your table - where did you get that from? (the one with RP and the lady)

I bet the 'Big Gun' really draws people to the table. Its helping to defend liberty without firing a shot!

The larger signs hanging below the table was printed out for us from a local meetup supporter who has access to large printers. They are inkjet printouts, which I took to the local Office Depot to figure out how to make them durable enough for multiple usages.

The largest one I bought a backer for and used spray adhesive to attach it with. The other one I ran through a lamenation machine.

2.5" @ 700 yards

That's crazy. I wouldn't have thought that was possible!

Me neither. I thought it was a fluke the first time, and went back to the bench and did it again, with 2 of the 3 shots in one hole.

I was a bit cocky at work the next day....:D

Yea, I thought it was for defending liberty when I bought her......I just didn't know it would be in this way...
