Grade Ron Paul's Debate Performance Tonight

Medical marijuana is okay to touch on, most Americans support that, but I doubt the talk of ending the drug war helped us. But it is what it is.

I think Newt had what appeared to be a good point about Timothy McVeigh, because Timothy was a terrorist and did kill lots of people.

Actually Ron came back pretty strong when he offered to the audience, that yes you can have security and a policeman in every house to prevent every crime but then you have a bigger problem. His delivery perhaps could have been better but I think those who listened and have a strong belief in the 4th A. should side with Ron on that one.

anyway, i agree that the drug war, medical MJ, and the last answer were probably not the best answers strategically, but quoting wolfowitz was priceless. Ron also clearly presented himself as the candidate of budget cuts. Which is what this election is about!

I am sorry. I added this to my reply because I didn't want to seem all negative. I love Paul, don't get me wrong

However, since all of the other candidates and the MSM and the Democrats aren't telling the truth on that issue, I don't think most people really understood Paul's answer."

My grade would be a C because of what I mentioned. I think with Republican voters, no one got an A. Most people got Bs or Cs. I think Paul took the opposite position of the vast majority of registered Republican voters on several issues when he didn't have to. Romney, perhaps did best with pandering on creating new wars, strengthening the Patriot Act, very tough immigration talk and so on. I basically disagreed with everything Romney said, but I'm in the minority when it comes to the GOP so that likely means he did well.

B, but only because his speaking style wasn't as strong as it could be. He has something of a slow Texan drawl and sounds awkward when trying to speak quickly. He sounds great in interviews and such when he can speak at his usual pace. Better than usual, though. Better than the others too, IMO.

A- The negative was for allowing them to not let him speak on rebuttals. I think sometimes he needs to be a little assertive when you're being attacked by other candidates.

Ron Paul attains the prime AAA rating for his character, abilities and credentials.
All the rest doesn't even deserve a single mention.

A- and not just saying that either. This may have been his best debate performance yet. The only minus was that he could've had a better punch line response to Gingrich regarding Timothy Mcveigh did succeed in his plot. I can understand why Newt's blunt response was a crowd pleaser, but deeper thinkers understand the full implications. Paul needed a better response to get those potential voters.

B at first but then C by the end. I did a face palm several times when he missed an opportunity to really take a stab the issues and make Romney and Perry look like amateurs.

I think Dr. Paul is still bad at these kind of debates that are designed for short answers. Some answers could be taken differently by a person who is not well versed in his philosophy.

Such as Profiling: At first people thought Oklahoma City was a Muslim.. People were ready to profile caucasians during the D.C. Sniper attacks.

Debt: He could use Peter Schiff's advice again when bringing up the fact that we cannot bet our future by adding more debt slowly, and hoping we will grow our way out of this, at the same time risking everything on 0% interest t-bonds.

A for the first hour B for the second hour. I voted B overall if the point of the debate was persuading undecided voters.. There was nothing wrong with his answers in principal, it's just I think he missed an opportunity to appeal undecided conservatives and not his base supporters.

he separated himself from the warmongers. As I wrote in my other thread...the other candidates basically said they are willing to go to war with the following countries:
Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, all of Latin America, Mexico, China...and probably were more that I can't even remember...overload.

He gave an A+ performance from an RP supporter point of view, but i question whether its really something the average GOP voter wants to hear
