Governor Perry indicted on felony criminal charges for abuse of power

I'll dance on Rick Perry's political grave. I only hope Texans aren't as dumb as they've been and don't make the next governor another emperor.

I wonder if it would make good politics for Rand Paul to call it a liberal witch hunt and defend Rick Perry...which it is.

Pros:
- Rand would look magnanimous and a team player in supporting his fellow Republican against liberals
- Might draw more coverage and attention to the indictment among Republicans

Cons:
- TV ad by Democrats saying that Rand Paul loves corruption and attacking "clean government" so much he supported his "fellow crony" Rick Perry.
- Turns off liberals that he might be courting right now.

Rand doesn't have enough information to comment, and should stay out of it. He should respect Texas' 10th Amendment right to deal with their own issues without federal officials butting in.

Texas' Perry indicted for coercion for veto threat
By PAUL J. WEBER and WILL WEISSERT 6 hours ago

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A grand jury indicted Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Friday for allegedly abusing the powers of his office by carrying out a threat to veto funding for state prosecutors investigating public corruption — making the possible 2016 presidential hopeful his state's first indicted governor in nearly a century.

The funny part is that the Dems must think Perry has a snowballs chance in Hell of becoming president. Ultimately though this is is vendetta politics. As much as I can't stand Rick Perry, this is the equivalent to a grand libtard whining session which will cost taxpayers to litigate it.

You ought to see this video first. This is the dash cam footage from the patrol car that pulled over Travis County D.A., Rosemary Lehmberg for DWI.

Here is the booking video when she was taken into custody.

Now that she knows what it's like to be kidnapped by the police, she might just be able to empathize with the people who's lives she will destroy in the future.

Wow she's head of state's "Public Integrity Unit" and repeatedly told the officers to "call Greg" to pull rank and get her out of her DWI. That's fighting corruption alright. That office is a joke.

Interesting. He must be on the wrong side of somebody. What they say he's being indicted for is par for the course for people with his kind of power.

A politician charged with coercion is like a car mechanic charged with using tools to work on cars. I just wish we would arrest them all on charges of running an extortion (tax) ring and threatening competitors with eventual violence if they dare try to compete in the markets the state has cartelized, monopolized, or hold monopsony over (racketeering, for the rest of us). That's the real coercion they carry out legally (although clearly not morally legitimate by any consistent standard of ethics). Round them all up, put them on trial in a free market for law, and when they are convicted by the overwhelming evidence, make them spend their lives remunerating all of us extortion victims and victims of their threats to keep us from competing.

Yes, but those glasses make him look so smart.

Not only that but according to the associated press in a recent report, he has brushed up on US foreign policy, so he has made a complete transition since 2012. I'd say he is poised for a run in 2016.

The point is not whether Perry is guilty or innocent. The point is it really does not matter because the system is so corrupt you can never really be sure and there are corrupt motives involved that are political to begin with. This is pot calling the kettle black. Even if Perry is guilty, this is the abuse of Prosecutorial discretion which is the very same abuse but no prosecutor can be so charged because the Supreme Court gave them ABSOLUTE immunity to do as they like. The people in Ferguson can protest and demand criminal charges be brought against the policeman, but politicians are powerless – that is solely the discretion of a prosecutor who works hand-in-hand with the police. That is the entire problem.

Shakespeare’s famous quote about the first thing we do is kill all the lawyers is not actually about lawyers. You have to understand the context. Private individuals were not allowed to have lawyers in those days – only the king. It was not until the American Revolution that the Constitution gave you a right to counsel, which the Supreme Court has effectively taken away giving you court appointed counsel working for the court who have achieved a near perfect conviction rate 99%. Court appointed lawyers are a joke to put it mildly. They are paid $90 and hour generally compared to $600-$1,000 for private lawyers.

Therefore, Shakespeare’s phase had nothing to do with killing general lawyers, it was the king’s PROSECUTORS who were corrupt. Jake Cade led the second Tax revolt and the king’s “lawyers” (prosecutors) were the ones aggressive seizing homes and prosecuting people wrongly at that time. Hence, history repeats and all the Constitutional precautions have been eliminated by the Supreme Court..

The purpose of the Grand Jury was to eliminate corruption where by ONLY the people could indict not the government in the spirit of a real democratic government. That too like your right to vote on specific issues has been eliminated. But then the Supreme Court held a prosecutor has NO DUTY to present the very evidence that demonstrates he is wrong or corrupt and that the person he is indicting is not to cover up someone else – a friend i/e/ bankers.

This destroyed the very purpose of a Grand Jury and has reverted everything back to a dictatorship. The Supreme Court reasoning was explained that it was still fair because you have the court jury (petit jury) where you get to put on your defense. Yet the role of the judge is to decide even there what evidence can even be shown to the jury. However, if prosecutors can freeze all your assets on false statements they even know are wrong and deny you a right to counsel, that is returning the entire system right back to the very corruption against which we had a revolution.

Here is just a small portion of the text of the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson. Just these few complaints illustrates the point – we have been here before and done that.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

History repeats because the passions of mankind never change. Those in power always want more. They will always act to relieve themselves of any duty to the people and it is always about furthering only their own self-interest. Converting civil police into military combat units is quartering troops among us. Mock trials have returned and there is absolutely no possible way to obtain a fair trial in the United States any more. Their own conviction rate was about 72% during the 1970s, It is now nearly 99%. Government is incapable to managing anything with perfection. The abuse of the judicial system undermines the rule of law and when that vanishes, so does investment for you can no longer trust the courts to vindicate property ownership.

It is a vicious cycle that repeats time and time again with the rise and fall of Empires, Nations, and City States. We are just not capable of advance out of this political maze of the centuries.
