GOP operative Jesse Benton re-emerges with possible Rand Paul opponent in his sights

So he's started a communications company, that makes it sound more likely that he won't be directly employed by Rand. That's a good thing in my opinion.

And if Benton works for a serious candidate, that candidate will be working with a serious handicap! I could totally seeing him charting a course into the Bermuda Triangle for the Rubio campaign.

"competent and personally loyal to the Paul family,"

He is neither competent and the only reason he's loyal to the Paul family is that he's married into it.

Actually, Jesse is taking on a more honest role in with the campaign since he's wasn't going to be running anything anyways. If he can't be completely shunned or put in jail, then being left in Kentucky doing nothing of real importance is probably the best we can hope for.

Wut? Like Benton was just going to drop outta politics period. He's in it. For life.

Exactly, not like he was going to be an engineer now lolol

Not. Qualified.

It's just a way for Paul, Inc to siphon off donor dollars. Amazing to see so many people lining up for the same scam yet again.

One alternative to just throwing money at a campaign is direct volunteer action. It's what a few of us are doing in Indiana. No money, just time.

Exactly right. It's a middle man, and with a middle man comes increased (often unnecessary) costs. But, he has the lists probably, so why wouldn't he want to make a few million off the movement if possible?

Which is why if Rand is using his service(s) in the 2016 campaign, I won't donate a dime. There is no reason to continue to fund someone IMO that sold supporters down the GOP river for his own apparent sake.

Then don't donate. I find it a bit strange to have using one person's services of all things as a die-on-this-hill litmus test for whether to donate to the campaign. I doubt many here would agree but you can do whatever you want. I am a bit tired of continually hearing about it though.

No, not at all. It takes money to do this stuff and if you want people to give their working lives to the cause, some of them have to be paid (not everyone is wealthy and can work for free full time).

And keep in mind, Jesse is the reason Ron ran in 2012. If it hadn't been for Jesse's insisting, then Ron probably would've have run.

When your paycheck is dependent upon those donations from a campaign, makes sense that he'd be insisting that Ron run, now doesn't it? Let's not pretend it was because Jesse truly wanted him to be President or anything... his "communications" were far too lacking to get Ron to the White House.

Yep. If I could make half a million or more just by convincing someone to run for office I would do it too. Fuck, I don't care who it is either. I will be Zippy's campaign manager and tell the world about the goodness of government for $500,000+.

.

I have lists too. I would never dream of selling the names or renting them out. And I could cite 3 names of people that you would recognize who gathered lists as a result of their efforts, and who then donated them gratis to the efforts of other candidates. Benton is a fat pig, wallowing in the pen that Ron built.

His paycheck was just fine before the campaign I am sure. He didn't need the campaign to make money. He saw the benefit to everyone for Ron running in 2012. It's a good thing he did, and its a good thing he was in a position to push Ron in to doing it.

ABOUT THIS SPECIAL REPORT
Across the nation, hundreds of charities take your donations in the name of cancer patients, dying children and homeless veterans Liberty. But the real beneficiaries are the charity founders themselves and the for-profit companies they pay to run boiler rooms that dial for dollars. To tell the stories of America’s worst <s>charities</s> political ticks, reporters reviewed thousands of charities and charted their finances going back a decade. These charities use deception, and in some cases outright lies, to persuade donors to give. Then they spend as much as 90 cents of every dollar raised to generate more donations. Regulators have proven powerless to stop the cycle of waste and deceit.
