Goons gonna goon

Alleged "jaywalker" gets half a dozen broken ribs and a nearly week-long hospital stay because he didn't lick the boot fast enough.

And apparently, such menaces to society warrant a response of at least 4 or 5 patrol units, and 6 or 7 cops standing around with their thumbs up their butts while they gawk and grin. However, there has been no word yet on whether the officers are OK.

[SPOILER ALERT: The relevant agency investigated itself and found it did nothing wrong.]

In this video, Criminal Defense Attorney James White, discusses the April 2025 arrest and brutalization of Charles Roberts, a 67 YO resident of Mansfield, OH, who was stopped by Mansfield Police Rookie Michael Nelson, and slammed to the ground when he refused to allow himself to be patted down over a citation.

White walks through the various legal claims, case law, and why this case is a perfect example of how little police officers and the departmental leaders understand about their own policies and the constitution.

It was just before 1 a.m. in Mansfield, Ohio. A 67-year-old man set out on a simple errand: to grab a 50-cent soda from a vending machine at the Car Wash & Mini Mart, just a block from his home. But he would never get that soda, because the Mansfield Police Department rolled up on him and immediately detained him for allegedly jaywalking across this empty street. Knowing that he did nothing wrong, the man complained. But he was then forcefully grabbed and then slammed to the parking lot asphalt, severely injuring him. An army of officers then surrounded him, mocked him and belittled him. All the while ignoring his obvious physical injuries.

Spoiler alert for @TheTexan : the officer was not OK - but he did get a "Wounds Received Award" and a promotion from "trooper" to "corporal" (his first in 16 years). So things worked out alright in the end.

In Limerick, Maine, three Maine State Police troopers arrived at the home of Justin Savage and his girlfriend Shawna Morse on a disturbance call. Within fifteen minutes of their arrival, they would basically beat and torture Justin, throwing him in a police car handcuffed, with leg restraints, bloodied, and with a hood covering his face so that he couldn’t see or breathe. They charged him with numerous crimes and issued a press release two days later, accusing him of numerous crimes, including breaking the ankle of one of the troopers during the incident. The officers were not wearing body cams. Fortunately however, video just recently surfaced showing what actually happened that night…
