Not only do they allow multiple .url's for blocked ads now they are serving ads that look just like youtube videos ( I saw one on this site...) After a run in with a google employee via their adsense help forum I decided I would never have that filth on my site again. I understand it's an easy revenue stream, but you are holding hands with satan.

It'd be nice if they'd at least attach a Google logo to the non-text ads.

If you use IE, which I dont recommend, you can add *.intellitxt.com to your Restricted Sites Zone and it will prevent those damn double underlined text ads from popping up.

Otherwise, for ad blocking in general, Id start with an ad blocking HOSTS file.

Without advertising, I doubt there'd be a Liberty Forest.

There is a limit to how much advertising that any person can take. I block a shitload of ads already, so I dont see tons of em, but google's ads, at least on its site are not that bad. you get to some other website where its like every other word has one of those double underlines and not only am I probably not going to ever visit that site again, I wont ever click on any of those ads, and due to just flat out extremely over advertising, I'll go proactive, and start looking for every possible way to block the advertiser completely.

Motion in Ads: Again, in moderation its okay, to a degree. Flashing shit pisses me off and are the first ones to get added to my HOSTS file. Force me to view an ad, and that advertiser gets blocked. Throw something that takes up the whole webpage with retarded levels of overadvertising and I will also block the line. I think where I'd draw the line is if the motion in an ad extends past its iFrame or border.

Then we get to the privacy. If they refuse to respect my privacy, then I refuse to let their ads even get to my computer. Ever read their privacy policies? "We respect your privacy" then two lines down "we take all data that we can possibly collect about you and give it to everyone that is interested". Someone want to explain to me how exactly thats respecting my privacy?

Google is too powerful. Someone needs to put up serious competition soon. They will get completely out of hand and already have, ruining people's incomes with a small change in algorithm. Yahoo is just fizzling out, Microsoft isn't innovating (as always), Ask has minimal results, and nobody else is even on the highway. Tired of Google's big Bilderberg, CIA hugging, globalist ass. You know what, that puts me in the mood for an Alex Jones movie. Let me go search on Google Video. lol!

Do you realize how many people here you just called an "asshole?"

Including at least one of our mods. :p:eek:

Bah, LF is sustained through advertising.

It's like pirating software, except it's a direct spit in the face of the server owner(s).

(well, unless you provide for LF in another way ;))

No "asshole" label on you, of course. :)

That said, I stand by what I said. Adblock is for assholes.

You can choose not to block ads on this website and have ads blocked on all other sites you visit.

At least assholes are useful for something :p

He's right to a certain extent, and Im one of the assholes. I block a lot of ads. Not all of them, but a lot. The ones I go after with intent are the ones that have done something to piss me off. If popups were still everywhere as an advertising source, I'd have turned into an even bigger asshole, but they kind of got the idea that annoying doesnt mean effective.

Shove it down my throat and I'll likely puke all over you, but slip it in my drink and im probably a lot less likely to notice. When popup ads changed to be included as banners on the side of a webpage, there were probably a lot of people a lot more tolerant of being shown advertising. I still block ads, but I understand the need for having ads to pay for sites like this. The consumer will draw their own lines, and the advertisers need to show a reasonable ammt of respect to those lines.

Why do you think TiVo and DVR's are so popular?

I have to block a lot of flash ads because the flash Linux x64 plug-in is a major memory hog.
