This info is probably already on the board, but it's scattered around. This is the most succinct account I've seen so far.

On Saturday, June 2, 2012, the Louisiana Republican Convention convened to select 46 delegates to the national convention. But within 2 and half minutes violence erupted when the police, at the command of the chairman of the LA GOP, Roger Villere, removed Ron Paul Rules Committee Chairman Alex Helwig. After being detained by the Shreveport police, Helwig was released with several broken fingers and was seen walking with a cane. One can only wonder why the police felt the need to use such force on the 42-year-old small business owner, but that force was nothing compared to the force used on a 70-year-old Ron Paul supporter which resulted in his hospitalization.

On April 28 Ron Paul overwhelmingly won the LA Caucus with a 2/3 majority. His supporters headed to Shreveport with that same 2/3 majority prepared to elect national delegates to the Republican National Convention in August. I was one of those elected delegates.

GOP establishment members were outraged at Paul’s caucus victory and one prominent GOP member vowed he would do whatever it took to stop Ron Paul. Obviously this included resorting to lawlessness, tyranny, and violence.

The founders would be appalled at this selection process, but would be very proud of those who stood up and held their ground.

I am glad another Ron Paul supporter stepped up to take Herford's place. I hope Herford and Helwig are doing okay.

Except I think she is overly defeatist. If we changed the rules with the rules committee and adopted them with a clear supermajority (as seen in the videos) and HAVE the videos....

There's been so much that has defied logic at these conventions that it's easy to feel a little worn down from it all. The Times-Picayune ran an article Friday about these convoluted rules. The question is will the RNC allow this to stand or side with the Paul delegates. We've seen what happened in Oklahoma already. Which 'convention' will be deemed legitimate?

But, said Davis, the 16 pages of new rules "were so overdone it is hard to read them with a straight face." For example, Villere was made permanent chair of the convention, it would take a three quarters vote of the convention to overrule him, and only a third of the delegates constituted a quorum, apparently to enable it to work its will even if the Paul forces walk out. The rules also tightly scripted events down to the minute, guaranteeing the convention would end by 2 p.m.

"I don't think this has ever happened anywhere," said Davis, who said it appeared that the party leadership had collected every anti-Paul strategy devised in every other state and wrapped it up into one big gob of rules and regulations.

We are going to have to have the RP Oklahoma or the RP Louisiana Delegation seated to have any chance to have Ron Paul nominated in Tampa.

Because the “new rules” were to govern the activity of the convention many in attendance believed (rightfully so) that the rules were out of line and asked for them to be disregarded and not used. The problem though was several rules within the “new rules” stated that the “new rules” could not be debated, voted on, or changed.

Yeah, but just like laws that say this can only be changed by x, they can change that law. They changed the rules at the rules convention the night before. I'm sure they will argue their side, but we have video which will show how the supermajority didn't adopt those rules and did adopt the ones by the new Paul rules committee the night before. And will show by physical turning of backs how huge a supermajority voted for the Paul slate rather than the other.

And will show a 70 year old, peaceable man grabbed and over cries of 'he's handicapped' injured so he had to be taken away by ambulance.

The press release I read from the Campaign is not nearly enough.

And please no more lectures Jesse on how we the Ron Paul delegates and supporters should behave at official GOP Events.

Your lectures and comments need to pointed in a different direction and no later than Monday morning in person on the air TV and or radio.

This type of cheating by the Romney people might push me to start voting straight libertarian or random write-ins if there isn't an available third party candidate even on all these down ticket races.

I tend to vote for conservatives with the exception of the top of the ticket, but I've basically had it with the mentality of these folks running the various GOP organizations.

Though I make an exception for Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts since she drives me mad as well.

It's sickening that Rand Paul will probably do Romney's bidding in this general election...

Just to follow up on my earlier post. The closest thing I can find directly relating to this issue is found in RNC Rule 15 (e) (1):

It's not a perfect fit to the situation, but any rules changes would affect the way in which delegates are selected. That is the whole purpose of the Convention in the first place IMO.

That is exactly what was cited by the RNC lawyer in his letter to the NV GOP to stop us from unbinding delegates and we didn't. NOr in LA. they also pretend there is a 'truly love the candidate you are bound to in your soul' requirement, but that doesn't exist.
