I never understand threads like this.

The need to announce you won't be visiting the forum any longer.

You could simply walk away. Why the need to tell people? I'd wager a guess of low self esteem, you want people to come on your thread and beg that you come back? Or, maybe, a person gets angry and they think a farewell thread might piss someone off? Or, maybe, a mental desire to move along in life, and starting a thread like this is a way to visually see that you're moving on? All just guesses...
