Goldwater vs Reagan; and how will Dr. Paul be remembered ?

Those comparisons are not even close. The world has not seen anyone like Ron Paul in more than a Century.

Ron Paul will be remembered as the Re-Founding Father. Win or Lose in November, the fuse has been lit, there is not stopping it, a Liberty bomb is about to blow.

Those people in the past who have truly changed history have understood that their role is not just to lead, but to teach.

I am personally not a religious person, and I know plenty would scorn me for this comparison. But the closest historical figure in terms of message and method that I can think of is Jesus.

I feel privileged to be a witness to this tbh.

I agree and I think it is because he is a very good Christian who truly lives by Christ's example. I continue to look up to Ron Paul as more and more of a moral and Christian role model in addition to everything else. He is humble, non-aggresive, joyful, honest, tolerant but principled and has firm convictions and integrity. He is one of the best examples I've ever seen of a great Christian role model and how a follower of Christ should live like.

No offence to those that are young, or have come on board recently. But there are a lot more of us who have been at this for years, then those that have come on board recently. Ron Paul coming on the national scene wasn't entirely Ron Paul's idea. He was courted by the libertarian wing of the party to run as far back as 2001. So just because you didn't hear about all this until recently, does not mean that it didn't exist. There have been thousands of people working at the grassroots level long before Ron Paul came on the national scene and there will continue to be long after he departs.

I was 15.

I researched this Ron Paul guy and was quite impressed and started keeping up with him and his record; when he announced he was running for the 2008 candidacy, I was blown away as I never thought I would see an honest man like RP, run in my lifetime- in fact I had assumed I would never vote because of what I saw as the decadency of the political system.

I also have a Masters in history, which doesn't mean much nowadays with the PC history that is taught , but I am well aware of American history and what has gotten us to where we are today.

BTW- I believe that RP ran on the Libertarian ticket in 1984.

I think a third major party would be a reactionary to the financial and debt crisis that is to come. The factors that would contribute to the financial crisis are Mainstream media vs the internet, young vs the retired in term of social security, government interventionism vs free market, the anti war vs the war profiteers and entitlement population rise up against the productive because their welfare checks would buy nothing. If enough people is on one side, a third party could run a play. Of course, this is pure speculation.

But the thing is flynn, we already have that in place within the GOP. We have a lot of libertarian/conservative people already in office at the state and national level, and as a bonus we have a lot of people who are sympathetic to our agenda but may not be entirely on board with us. But those people can help us move at least part of our agenda through Congress.

if paul wins = reagan

if paul doesnt win but GOP transforms over the next two decades into the party of liberty = goldwater

if paul doesnt win and the movement fades once he leaves politics = buchanan

If a Ron Paul win = Reagan, we're all screwed

Plus, GOP gave us Nixon in '68. Hardly the party of liberty.

Reagan sucked as governor of California, too, so it wasn't the attempt on his life that magically changed a rabid Anti-Federalist and libertarian hardliner into a failure. He was an MIC, corporatist shill in his earlier private life, and he was an MIC, corporatist Drug Warrior shill as president.

True. I am in no way suggesting abandoning them. I see the message of individual liberty being diluted in favor of catering toward a more marginalized political collusion system with more incentive for principled politicians like Ron Paul to do the opposite.

Wasn't sure- and they don't teach about RP in college history. but I knew it wasn't 2001.
