Would have been counterproductive. Didn't you hear Ron Pauls response? He believes in NONVIOLENCE in the tradition of Ghandi and Martin Luther King. No one who understands Ron Paul's positions would advocate aggressive violence or threats of violence.

I agree with you, but to play devil's advocate... if he was a traitor... he could be lawfully killed for it.

Not saying he is... just saying... the constitution authorizes the use of force in some cases.

I actually really liked how Beck presented some of the views of the more... uh... don't want to say crazy, but, crazy... supporters of Dr. Paul's. Why?

Because it allowed him to directly address the fears of a lot of people who don't like Ron Paul because of what some of his supporters say. Anyone who's had a bad experience with a supporter of Dr. Paul like that who's watching will hear the things Beck's reading and think 'yeah, that's what that dude said to me', and then get to see Dr. Paul clarify his position and say what he believes (that the government was inept and made mistakes).

Until now I think there's been a lot of confusion among the general public about that, and it hasn't really been directly addressed. You really did get the feeling that this was one of the first times that Dr. Paul has been confronted with some of these ideas from supporters of his, and it gave him an opportunity to clear up a lot of the confusion about where he stands. And that's a good thing, because his message is good, and therefore it should be as clear as possible.

I agree. Ron did great but glenn kept interupting him which was annoying. Also towards the 3/4 point of the interview glenn asked some totally ridiculous questions and then blathered on about being threatened. Like anyone can truly verify if that was from an actual ron paul fan or not. It could have easilly been some nasty email by someone or some people pretending to be a paul
supporter(s). In other words, no way to know at all.

Furthermore when glenn has seen ron paul fans at his book signings they've never threatened him.

Ron did great answering some of the ridiculous questions and even better answering the normal ones.

The interview was great, and was mostly positive in that he allowed Ron to speak his mind....what more can we ask for. The whole part of about the nutty supporters was actually a huge positive. Lets face it...many RP supporters have non-mainstream ideas, and this segment gave Ron Paul a chance to distance himself from the most extreme of his supporters. IMO this gives Ron much more crediblity in the eyes of the general public.


Note to the Extremist Ron Paul supports: Please keep your conspiracies ideas unassociated to Ron Paul. Of course no one here would deny your right to believe in what you believe, but it only hurts Ron when you try and tie your ideas to his. Let him speak for himself. We are all supporting RP because we believe in true liberty...thats what our message needs to be...not your personal beliefs.

I would like to second that second paragraph, couldn't have said it better myself. Believe what you wanna believe, and if you TRULY support Ron Paul for Pres. you'll leave him out of it.
I think it was quite clear his beliefs on 911. done and done.

The only crazies and nuts are the ones who don't have the mental copacity to grasp what Ron Paul has been saying about the constitution. So if you were unable to understand, I'd say yes, you were a bit, loony. Or perhaps just lacking mental acuity.

Great interview. Ron once again sounds (and is) the most intelligent and knowledgeable of all candidates. And Glenn gave him the opportunity to talk without interruption. Not many have done this for Ron Paul yet, and certainly not for an hour (until meet the press). Ron is just brilliant about everything. And it's not just senseless "this is what I think you want to hear" regurgitation like what comes out of the other candidate's mouths. We all know this, of course. It's so evident, and why we have all fallen in love with him...but this interview is so important to reach new people. So thank Glenn Beck.

Forget about the threat thing. It was basically Glenn letting Ron state his beliefs to tell the nutsos they are nutso. All normal people know it's nothing to do with Ron Paul. So relax.

I don't know anything about Glenn Beck. Regardless, my best wishes go out to him and his family, and for their safety. Thank you Glenn Beck and CNN. Let's see some more fair coverage.

Ron Paul 1, Glenn Beck 0

I was really nervous going about this thing...I think Glenn Beck intended to smear Paul in this interview, but he totally failed to do that and instead gave Paul a national TV platform to express his opinions.

It started off pretty innocently. In the beginning of it, Beck attempted to gain rapport with Paul so he might relax. He also was trying to bait Paul into saying extreme things that would haunt him later, but Paul avoided that trap.

Later on, with taxes, he tried to paint Paul as having no plan as to what would replace the IRS and as basically not a serious candidate. I think Paul successfully defended by saying if we cut the wars overseas, we'd have plenty of money and could do without the IRS.

Then, they moved to foreign policy, and the real attacks started to come. But Paul stood his ground. One of my favorite points was about Israel -- Beck was trying to say that Israel would be in trouble if Paul had his way, that Paul wouldn't help our allies. That may not seem like an attack to us, but a lot of people (esp. religious Republicans) want to support Israel against the Arabs. Paul pointed out that we give tons of aid and weapons to Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, and that Israel would be better off without our interference. Paul also sounded like he supported Israel bombing Iran (if Israel so chose), which really threw Beck for a loop and he had to quickly change subjects. It was great!

Then Beck came out with that "my life is in danger because of your supporters" crap, but that just gave Paul a chance to distance himself from it, and the smear effect of it was limited, I think.

So, I think I view the exchange between Paul and Beck a little differently than some people here. I don't think we owe Beck any thanks, his show services power (they are scared of Paul) and he was trying to smear Paul in that interview. But Paul defeated him and scored a victory!

I wouldn't necessarily say "thank you" to Beck, as I think he thought that by bringing up the 9/11 conspiracy theories and the 'terror' he's been facing from supposed RP supporters would undermine an otherwise good interview. What I would say is that he thought wrong, and "misunderestimated" the power of Paul's message, and the way he conveys it. So overall, I'll say it's a plus for us tonight.

I had a friend that I've been trying to convince to vote for Paul, and tonight was the first time he's been able to see Paul in full stride, so to say, and he was convinced of what I've been telling him, and liked Dr Paul very much. He also thought that the 9/11 and supporter questions were completely uncalled for, and unprofessional.
