Glenn Beck completely destroys socialist on radio

I love that. Nothing more fun than using their own "logic", if you can call it that, against them. :)

I only caught the latter half of this but dear god it was hilarious - this moron called in trying to sound intellectual and Beck used his own retarded logic against him.

Did anyone else hear this?

I'll watch for it on youtube and post it.

But Beck is a war lover. He's NOT a libertarian. His version of government is neoconism.

I was stunned by his TV program the other day... he actually compared the drug war to prohibition when discussing Mexico with John Bolton and Karl Rove. You could see both of them shift uncomfortably when Beck said that...

Doesn't like the drug war but loves the Iraq war?
Beck is really confused.

Beck just got owned by a socialist on his own show. The guy said that the most socialist of the candidates was Palin because as governor she took money from the oil companies and redistributed it to the people.

Beck just made faces.

Thank god im not the only one who noticed this. I watched the entire interview and i did not hear any intellectual argument come from his mouth. I for one despise socialism, but the man did make a good point about sarah palin being the most socialist candidate this election cycle. Beck is just banking on the ultra right wing who watch FOX news to use there close minded opinions to disregard the socialists arguments by simply ignoring the facts. I find it hard to listen to any of Glenn Becks opinions (not facts).

To make my self clear though: I DESPISE SOCIALISM. But i am still open minded and will hear the arguments of the people i so despise. Shame on Beck for not being able to defend his point of view.

I think he was just counting on his viewers dismissing anything the socialist said outright. While I'm sure that some of his old neo-con hanger-ons did just that, he has to realize that people are questioning everything these days, and that is a good thing.

He should have asked the socialist how he thinks a capitalist would handle a huge supply of a natural resource under state owned property.

Then he would correct him and say ideally there would be no state owned property, and the owner could do with it as he wished. And since the oil in Alaska is under state-owned property, there is no pure free market solution available, and giving some of the revenue to the people of the state makes more sense than giving it to the state, or all to a corporation.

The problem with Beck and other conservatives and beltway libertarians is they don't ask the key question, which Lew Rockwell points out.

The key question being "When is it acceptable to use violence against the innocent?". The answer is never.

Socialism is violence. Democracy is violence. Government is violence. Period

glenn: I am for the individual. I have no group, sir. I have no group except maybe the group that believes in the individual like our founding fathers did. So far i haven't found a group that actually believes what i believe. i have found libertarians, but they don't really have a group because in that group there are atheists and god-fearing people, there are people that are -- you know, want to live off, you know, the power of the sun and people who want to burn coal. There's just individuals in that group. So tell me, sir, what my group is, john.

wow!!!

We just have to be careful that it's the real thing and not the Establishment trying to co-opt us. Always cleave to principle regardless of who's doing the talking.

I do find it interesting that Beck name-dropped the Fabian Society and H G Wells. He must be doing quite a bit of reading.

It's not like everybody who calls talk radio knows exactly what they're talking about.

I've seen Mises, the Mises Institute and the Austrian School of economics mentioned several times on his show and each time each he does that self mocking "Oh yeah, him. Of course everyone knows him" routine.

You'd think by now he would have read up on that subject.

Is requiring a company to pay the State a fee for taking out some of its resources, such as oil, really socialist?

With the profits she then mails checks to Alaskans.

Is that Socialist, do some of the profits of natural resources belong to the State (the people that live on the land?) Aren't property rights a function of the State?
