I mentioned to a friend that newt suggested palin might be his vp. She responded by saying, oh, is newt looking for a 4th wife?
It's smart of him to try, though. Some of the soft support can probably be peeled away.
As bad as Newt is, people are going to come to the ballot box come November, and remember how much they don't like Obama. And it will be interesting to see what happens when you have the dilemma of bad choices, if Newt is the nominee.
I do think Gingrich would beat Obama in debates, though I think he'd shoot his own foot somewhere else on the campaign trail. Obama is a good orator at delivering set speeches, but isn't particularly quick on his feet with turning a phrase. And Newt has made a career on that.
All that said, Newt is probably a hundred times worse than Romney in terms of selling you out. Look beyond the ideology and issues for a moment to temperament. I like to think Mitt is a decent, if misguided person. Newt is a rampaging egomaniac. Brilliant, yes, but as liable to do something really terrible as well as something really smart. I've read his books, and really enjoy some of his fiction, but he's too unpredictable for anyone to feel safe.
Hoping for Ron Paul supporter votes. Pandering, but nice to have the shout out and recognition.
Of course this was likely a political stunt to try win over some supporters, however in my opinion this "shout-out" is a positive development. Who would have thought just a few years ago that a well-known establishment hack would actually be speaking about monetary policy, specifically in regards to Dr. Paul's monetary positions & in a positive light? This is great.
He will run rings around Newt faster than Newt divorces his wives.

"Yes, with your help, Callista will be a great first lady (if I don't divorce her first!)"![]()
You've said this twice in the same thread already. I think it's time for Romney supporters to stop dreaming: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres12/contrib.php?id=N00000286&cycle=2012im pretty sure newt is worser than romney. maybe, just maybe romney might flipflop from the bad side to the good side???
Has everyone already forgotten that just recently Gingrich proclaimed he wouldn't vote for Paul in the general? The man never stands for anything other than hate. The only reason he's going anywhere right now, other than the fact that he is somehow perceived as a Southerner despite being born in Pennsylvania, is because he tapped into public hatred of the media. He'll be riding high until his tactic backfires on him, and it will. He has no morals, no values, and no integrity.
