yeah. and he is the anti-Republican on everything and people can't realize it. even in rhetoric! his favorite president of the 20th century is FDR, which happens to be the president that grew the size of government the most during the 20th century. some repubs talk the talk. newt doesn't and still repubs vote for him. he supported the bailouts, the individual mandate, voted to create the department of education... it goes on and on and on. the only thing that he seems to have in common with the voters is lust to kill foreigners.

Paul’s polling support has ticked up in recent months from the low-single digits nationally to the mid-single digits.

It is not unreasonable to think that these recent supporters are likely to jump off the Paul campaign’s band wagon in order to back the most likely individual to defeat Romney and secure the Republican nomination should the race tighten. And that tightening is happening before our eyes.

First he lied. Ron Paul is in the teens nationally.

Secondly, is he insane? Why do we care about "defeating Romney"? We want Ron Paul as POTUS which means we want to defeat Obama...

Besides the fact that Santorum and Newt are probably tied for most hated.

Newt is the same thing as Donald Trump--a Democrat in Republican clothing who is just credible enough in certain circles to fool Republican primary voters to vote for them, but couldn't win against a reasonably sane tool like Obama even if they wanted to. Which they don't. As is evidenced by all the money Trump gives Democrats and by all the time Gingrich spends being all smoochy on the love seat with Pelosi.
