Gingrich and Santorum CAN'T WIN THE NOMINATION. They miss out on 500 delegates.

Well, before everyone starts banking on this, what are the past precedents here? Couldn't the national GOP force Virginia and other states to accept Gingrich and Santorum?

They already tried in Virginia, and court shot them down. No Ballot for You. :D

Gingrich and Santorum are not on the Virginia ballot at all and Virginia does not allow write-ins. That is about 49 delegates right there.
Santorum failed to get signatures for 40 counties in Illinois. He only got signatures for something like 7 counties. No signatures no delegates. Plus the delegates he got on there have to be elected by that county. That might be 100 delegates lost and he only got 7 delegates so far. Paul has 10 delegates and is ahead of him in delegates. And Gingrich just grabbed 25 SC delegates. Plus Gingrich is not on the Missouri ballot either ! So the race is a two man race already but most do not realize. The two are Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. Let Gingrich enjoy his win. It is the first he got. Paul has already been on top twice. And even Romney lost this one in South Carolina ! Ouch ! Santorum lost in Carolina too. Number of votes do not count , it is the delegates that counts.

No. The court already said no. Perry sued and lost. Only Paul and Romney wil be on the ballot in VA.

Can anybody explain me whey AP shows only 4 delegates for RP after SC? hxxp://conservativebyte.com/2012/01/full-gop-delegate-count-so-far/ They write that they interviewed unpledged delegate - does it mean that no one unpledge delegate from Iowa will vote for RP? Why?

I agree.

You people don't understand that the two realistic outcomes from SC were Ron Paul 3rd and Gingrich 1st.

We got one of those.

Derailing Mitt Romney was critical.

Lets face it no matter how the media spins it Santorum and Gingrich are going nowhere.

And all of the whinning about how things look bad for Paul; People the only reason he got "bad" finishes in the other states in 08 was because Mccain was the anointed by then.

This race is wide open.

The national delegates have not been selected yet in Iowa. The county conventions aren't held until March 10 and the state convention is June 16.

Straw polls in Caucus states are meaningless. They only give you an idea of how the attendees feel, what matters is how the RNC delegates feel and that is largely determined by organization and passion months prior to their selection.

CNN differs...

Candy Crowley's STATE OF THE NATION

Hosting the top 3 candidates.

Santorum repeatedly stated: "this is a 3 person race, there are 3 candidates in this race, there's only 3 serious candidates..."

Even Candy Crowley repeated it as a 3 person race.

Of course in the prerecorded segment, the CNN banners repeatedly displayed a 3 person race.

Nice segment interview with Jim DeMint

Candy Crowley to DeMint, " When you look at the top, at all 3 candidates, do you doubt the credentials of all 3 conservatives?"

Ron Paul should work with his staff to author a very strong talking point about electability and the fact that the newt and the insanitorum have none. Then practice it until he can say it forcefully and convincingly, and use it in each and every upcoming debate, and every interview he does.

Ohio, Missouri, Virginia that I know of.

I live in Missouri. Gingrich failed to qualify for the ballot of our primary, but due to GOP stupidity in my state, we are having a primary AND a caucus. The primary is in February and carries zero delegates - effectively a straw poll. Our caucus is in March and I have not heard any news of candidates not qualifying for our caucus.

Does anyone have the specific delegates they're missing? It would help in spreading that Gingrich and Santorum are unelectable.

The campaign should have coached Ron to come out with those numbers on his first sentence at the SC debates. That data was known weeks ago.

Ron at the debate: "Mr. John King, why do we have Newt Gingrich and Rich Santorun on stage and why are you asking them questions? You know they are missing 556 delegates and face a statistical impossibility to get elected. Why don't you ignore THEM instead.

Now THAT is difficult to black out.

For people who frequently ask others to questions what they see and hear in the media, I have a feeling that we are going to look back at Doug Wead's assertion and feel pretty naive. I would like a second source and some math on this figure.

but virginias primary is a winner takes all if one of the candidates gets 50% or more of the vote.. so it alm,ost seems like newt and santorum are off the ballot for a reason.. otherwise if no candidate gets 50% it is proportional delegates

Next they are going to start saying, "At this point, only the 'top three' should be debating," which they will of course base solely on the SC results.

Interesting... at least we might get some momentum then out of your state I suppose.

Can I ask a question.. maybe this was covered.. If Newt or Santorum know this, why are they still running? Do they not know this? Do they expect other states to let them in?
