Jailed Kurd Leader: Abdullah Ocelan

Tension will rise if Kurds fail to receive news regarding the condition
of the jailed leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK),
according to a co-chair of the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP).

“No one understands it, but if we don’t receive news from Imrali
and we don’t solve this sensitive issue, tension will rise,”
HDP co-leader Selahattin Demirtas said in a rally in the eastern province of Mus,
referring to the island prison where Öcalan is incarcerated.

Relations never recovered after the Turkish annexation of Alexanderetta,
and were on the verge of a complete show-down
when in 1998,
the Turkish army amassed on the Syrian border, threatening war with Damascus
if Al Assad did not extradite Abdullah Ocelan,
leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK)
who was operating from Syria and leading a guerrilla war
against the Turkish government.

Ocelan was forced to leave and eventually captured by the Turks,
and remains in Turkish custody until today.

►Russian jets intercept US spy planes approaching Russian border with transponders off – MoD

US spy planes have twice tried
to approach the Russian border over the Black Sea with their transponders off,
the Russian Defense Ministry said,
adding that SU-27 fighter jets were scrambled in response.

The SU-27 fighter jets that intercepted the US aircraft were acting
“in strict accordance with international flight rules,” the statement reads.

Two unnamed US defense officials earlier accused Russian jets
of carrying out an “unsafe and unprofessional” intercept of the US spy aircraft,
which was on a “regular patrol” over the Black Sea.

They said the Russian SU-27 came within about 3 meters of the US plane,
and the standoff lasted for about 19 minutes.

"They're up there for 12 hours and there are lots of interactions.
But only one of the incidents was what the pilot determined was unsafe,"
a US official told Reuters.

(Never... there is NEVER 'resolution' to these 'disputed claims'...

Britain has spent more than £1 million ($1.4 million)
funding the Syrian opposition’s lobbying efforts in Washington DC and at the United Nations
in a bid to influence American policy, US Department of Justice records reveal.

The British government has used a fund known as
the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund
to bankroll lobbyists in the US – some of whom are former British diplomats –

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson hinted on Wednesday
the UK is prepared to give stronger backing to ‘moderate’ Syrian rebels opposing Assad. (Fuck you Boris!)

The fund came to national attention earlier this year for spending £2.4 million ($3.2 million)
to run a shadow press office (Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, sohr)
for the Western-backed Syrian opposition (providing 'headlines' to Reuters, CNN, BBC, Foreign Policy etc. etc.)
aimed at publicising ‘moderate’ rebels to military backers
such as the Department of Defence.

A delegation from the US Peace Council (USPC)
recently returned to the US from a fact finding mission to Syria.
The members spent 6 days meeting with Syrian Government Officials
including, President Assad, Union Leaders, Government Opposition Members
as well as Civil & Business Leaders, NGO’s, Charities and Universities.

The delegation stated that each member paid their own way
and that the Syrian Government allowed them to meet whomever they wanted.

They issued their report and held a press conference at the UN on 9th August 2016.

and maybe keep the connection between the country that funded it and that group,

Two runaway rear admirals, a colonel and his daughter
were captured late Wednesday in Istanbul's Tuzla district
during security operations regarding the July 15 failed coup attempt
