Gary Johnson Gary endorses Ron Paul on the front page of his campaign site

Nice. We could use his 2% in Iowa.

Not only that, the man would make a nice running mate for Paul.

Paul/Johnson against Obama/Biden, it wouldn't even be a contest, they would both get their rear-ends handed to them in all the debates.

Anyone else here think he would make a good VP candidate for Paul?

Possibly. Ron Paul might need someone more politically experienced and connected though. I wouldn't underestimate Obama. We need someone GOOD.

Thanks, Garry. You will have my support if Ron is not the nominee. :D

I wish he would consider a Senate or Congressional run.

Ron may still run third party. Seriously, I was urged to and did vote for a good man in 2008 by Paul, but I didn't agree with all his issues and didn't trust him near as much as Paul, and that was Chuck Baldwin. I won't do that this time, I will vote for Paul no matter what. And I do mean no matter what.

As far as i'm concerned those who vote Johnson in the primary if Paul is not the nominee are doing so in defense of liberty. If this is what happens, Johnson IS the liberty candidate, and we should all support him to give the collective finger to the man. You Johnson haters have NO excuse now, he did exactly what he was supposed to do, campaign and spread the message until december then drop out and endorse Paul in december. His actions are undisputedly friendly to liberty, and he is definitely a part of this movement.

I had no doubt GJ is a friend of liberty....I sent him donations also

GJ has said himself he is not expecting Ron Paul to pick him as VP because he is pro-choice. I'd love to see a Paul / Johnson ticket though

It was the right thing to do and I commend him on it.

Still don't like Gary though, can't get over the pro-abortion stance. I could never vote for someone who supports abortion but calls themselves a defender of liberty.

I think Ron Paul has outdated opinions and he should keep his religion out of politics. Pro-choice is a legitimate concept and pro-life people will never "win" that argument per se.

Is Ron Paul really pro-life anyway? It sounds like he wants to have it both ways.

Protecting life has nothing to do with religious views getting into politics. If you believe in liberty then just the fact that you are an individual, and the unborn are individuals, then you have the right to life.

I understand Ron's federal vs local position on abortion, I disagree on part I it though. I think every state should have its own abortion laws, but the federal government should step in and make them all have pro-life laws. Let the states work out the details, punishment, enforcement etc but a basic function of the federal government is to protect life and liberty so it cannot allow any state to legalize the murder of the unborn.

Nope it does have to do with religion in this case. Ron wants to have it both ways.

The federal government has no right to make anyone give birth to a tumor or make them die on the operating room table. Or put a gun to their head and make them give birth.

At best Walter Block's position is the right one, not "pro-life" which sounds very unscientific.

We can continue this debate elsewhere, let's not derail this thread.

Although anyone who refers to an unborn human as a tumor really isn't someone worth debating with IMO.

Again more people ignoring science.

Anyone that is unaware that a zygote can turn into a tumor, is not worth debating IMO. Life does not begin at conception, this is a fact not opinion.

I took a ton of shit for saying this would happen, but at least I am proven smarter than the rest of you. ;)

I've never understood all the paranoia about Gary Johnson.

I think his intent has always been to help the liberty movement and generally to help, or at least do no harm, to Ron Paul.

Well, I think some of his supporters pissed some of us off. But, you know, even if I did get pissed at one of his supporters myself (and I did), I'm not going to hold that against Johnson. Unlike the MSM, I don't personally believe in guilt by association.

Yes. Unfortunately, he said when he first announced he wasn't interested in the position, and I'm scared he'll stand by that. Don't want him to, but he does tend to stand by his statements. So, we'll see if that is even a possibility.

That's cool, I'd vote for him if my choice was Romney, Obama, or Johnson, for sure.

Wish he'd be a little more vocal about supporting Ron though.

I don't know why he wouldn't. Doesn't a VP position set you up nicely for President after Ron has done his 1 or 2 terms?

Well the guy did have less support than Rick Santorum so I wouldn't imagine his backing will go a very long way. But the solidarity is nice I guess.

Well, assuming he pulls for us in New Mexico and the south, it should help us win that state and gain a lot of support in others. He might not be popular on the East Coast, but GJ is well loved in his home state and surrounding ones.

Could you imagine Gary debating Biden? Gary would take Biden to school. Would love to see that!
