Have this one used game that looks fun (Homefront - like Red Dawn but with N. Korea invading) and while you are supposed to be able to play it offline, you have to log in and register once to be able to do that. Steam was giving a "Not connected to the Internet" error for a while (this is a REALLY COMMON PROBLEM!) It apparently tries to open a ton of ports and if any of them are blocked - well no go. Now it's saying it's trying to update the software, but can't connect to the Internet.
Solutions vary from uninstall and re-install, to shutting down all your firewalls and security/anti-virus software (like that's going to happen - NOT!), etc.
anyway, has anyone run into this and found a solution?
thanks,
