Galt's Gulch Chile is ready for inhabitants

And was invite only. Whats to stop people running to this site with pockets full of bailout money?
I highly doubt the Chilean government would bother to investigate what some dumb Americans did to some other dumb Americans without a lot of public pressure. So my guess would be, not much. Though, if some of the people that got ripped off were rich enough, they could hire mercenaries to murder the person that stole from them.

But since when is MLM unpopular here? Liberty heroes Doug Wead and Matt Collins love MLM plans. How is that last 1 that a bunch of liberty folks got involved with working out? Anyone made a boatload of money off that protein powder?

Ayn Rand's Vision of Galt's Gulch Has Become Reality As Of Today

Looks like they are semi-prepared for whoever is ready to move in! I just don't know about this place. I mean, in theory, it's awesome. And Chile is just about the best place you could put it, but what will it be like in reality?

What is this about a "Founders Club"? You invest money now and get it back in five years PLUS keep your land? Sounds like a possible pyramid scheme... Sounds fishy.

I wish them well, however, Berwick has been pumping this so much that I have doubts. He is on record saying Chile is "practically total freedom". Ha! When they dump the income tax, I'll start taking that seriously.

I'd actually like to visit Chile this year and check it out. I have a little hope. But for most, uprooting and moving to Chile is just not possible or practical. Why not just start a business and form a New Mexico LLC anonymously? That way you can live anywhere as long as your income isn't tied to 1 geographic region.

For it to be Galt's Gulch, some people are going to need to buy more than 5 acre plots for the economy to sustain itself. Do some of the founders already have businesses set up locally with high paying jobs available?

Prices have actually dropped with Pre-Sale Lot Program pricing you can buy 2.5 acres for $92,500.
1.25 acres can be purchased for $48,500.

That's still really expensive considering it is a 3rd world country. You can buy land in the freest parts of the US (much more free than this area) for much less. It still seems cool, though. If I had $100,000,000, I might throw a few hundred thousand at this.

I'd rather join a real Galt's Gulch. One that doesn't advertise itself and doesn't brag about being located near another town. One that doesn't brag about recycling and other hippie shit but instead brags about mining and drilling for resources.

Chile isn't a 3rd world country. It may not be 1st world yet, but it is far above in terms of development and quality of life of the other developing countries. It is by far the most developed and stable country in Latin America. It's middle class has a income comparable to most states in the South. Middle class purchasing power is on par with those in states such as Kentucky and Tennessee.

You are correct sir. In terms of the Human Development Index Chile is number 40 overall. It is only behind the United States, Canada, and Barbados in the the Americas.

Glenn Beck is Planning a $2 Billion "Galt's Gulch" in Texas
http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2013/01/glenn-beck-is-planning-2-billion-galts.html

On his program last night, Beck revealed that his intention to "go Galt" is quite literal, unveiling grandiose plans to create an entirely self-sustaining community called Independence Park that will provide its own food and energy, produce television and film content, host research and development, serve as a marketplace for products and ideas, while also housing a theme park and serving as a residential community.

At the center -- in the middle of the lake that is itself larger than all of Disney Land - Beck (with the help of David Barton) will create a massive "national archive"/learning center where people can send their children to be "deprogrammed" and elected officials can come to learn "the truth."
The Dallas Observer reports that the planned community will be in Texas:
Beck doesn't specify where in Texas this community will be, whether it will be based near his Westlake home, or his Las Colinas studio, or on some of that farmland he bought.
Things are pretty bad in the US, but I am not sure that I am ready for a city run by Glenn Beck, though the idea of private cities is a great one. Let's hope Beck's move will launch others to think about and create private cities.

Seeking Galt's Gulch

http://www.lewrockwell.com/2013/03/jeff-thomas/seeking-galts-gulch/

If ever there were a time that a Galt’s Gulch should be created by those seeking an escape from bureaucracy, it would be now. Certainly those of us who reside outside Europe and America are seeing an influx of people seeking to escape the countries that were at one time regarded as "the best place in the world."

So, what we are seeing is individuals and families that are, in effect, economic refugees, each hoping to find a better place than they are leaving. The concept of a purpose-built community for libertarians is, however, a less likely development; yet, some do exist.

One is Cafayate, an upscale community that is being created by Doug Casey in Salta, Argentina. For those who may not be familiar with it, it is well away from the capitol, Buenos Aires, and therefore, hopefully, removed from much of the political influence of Argentine governments, which have been serially corrupt and dysfunctional. Plans for Cafayate include golf, polo, good restaurants and locally-made wines. An upscale community hoping to attract like-minded people.

Another community is developing in Chile and seems to have a strong focus on self-sustainability – organically-grown meats, fruits, and vegetables, plus grapes for the making of wine. It is based on a large, existing farm and house lots are now for sale.

If anyone has never been to Chile and wants to meet people that currently/have lived there, there is a meetup in Manchester, NH on the night of December 27. A family led by a crazy man that constantly moves around currently lives there but will be in Manchester for the holiday and are interested in talking to people about their current residence. PM me for details.

Amanda Billyrock lived in Chile for a little while but has since relocated to NH. You can contact her via Youtube, Facebook or Twitter. Or come to NH and ask her question at dozens of events. Anyway, at Porcfest 2013 she gave a speech which included some details of her visit to Chile. The Chile part starts at 13:45 into this video.

I listened to Berwick give a speech about this place.

He seemed pretty reasonable about it being under government control. He focused on the fact that it's about attracting like-minded people together.
I'm definitely not throwing my money down for it but I could see it developing into a thriving community.
Berwick seems like a fine (and committed salesman.) I say that in a good and bad way.

Lets see how long Chile's new Socialist president will allow this.

Freedom, Prosperity Threatened in Chile With Election of Socialist

The New American
16 December 2013

After securing the greatest number of votes in the first round of Chile’s presidential election last month with strong support from the Communist Party, self-styled “Socialist” Michelle Bachelet cruised to a widely anticipated victory in a run-off vote for the Chilean presidency held December 15. The former defector to the mass-murdering Soviet bloc, who took refuge under the brutal Communist regime ruling East Germany, is hoping to replace Chile’s freedom-preserving constitution with one that allows government to take over everything from healthcare to higher education.

According to analysts, with the “deep reforms” promised by Bachelet, the foundation of Chilean liberty and prosperity are now under threat. Latin America more broadly, meanwhile, has been almost completely conquered by a tightly knit network of communist and socialist forces working to impose tyranny on the people of the region. However, whether Bachelet will succeed in her quest to re-shape the most prosperous and successful nation on the continent remains to be seen, and opposition to the plan is growing.

“Chile, one of the few remaining bastions of freedom in Latin America, is in danger of going communist,” noted anti-communist author and analyst Trevor Loudon. “Can the U.S. afford to lose yet another friend? Can the West afford to lose Chile — one of the most strategically situated nations in the world? The encirclement rolls on.” Along with numerous other experts on the region and communism, Loudon argues that the ongoing socialist takeover of Latin America represents a major threat to the United States and freedom.

She should encourage it. These folks are likely paying more in taxes than locals. So the more of them, the better. They don't have the right to vote or anything. And if they ever become really rich, the government can either take their money or nationalize their businesses. It seems like a win-win.

You have to pay taxes in Galt's Gulch? I thought Galt's Gulch was anarcho-capitalist. I guess not.

You're kidding right? She'll just nationalize the whole thing, kick all the foreigners out and let her followers live there.

You would have to be incredibly stupid or gullible to spend even a dime on this deal.
