I don't usually do this, but this was too good to resist. Let the flame war begin!

Time is all relative, to God, 14 billion years could feel very short. Im sure that 999 trillion years would also feel short if you were immortal and had an infinitely long lifespan.

How Many Things Are Wrong in the Picture?

There are three things wrong with that cartoon:
  • Angels had nothing to do with God creating the universe. They are created beings themselves.
  • The universe is not 14 billion years old.
  • God's chosen people did not always dwell in a desert. They started off in a garden, and now His people have inherited the entire earth in Jesus Christ.
Whoever drew that cartoon is not only ignorant of natural science, but he or she is also ignorant of what the Bible actually teaches. Of course, critics of the Bible are always guilty of committing fallacies.

Well, some people and apparently the creator of that cartoon has not studied God enough to understand those things you pointed out.

There are many people who can not see past what was created far enough to perceive a creator.

Well that sucks. Someone gets created and then they have to sit around on a cloud for 14 billion years before they can do anything. I hope God gave them at least an Atari 2600.
The universe is not 14 billion years old.
Fine, it's 13.7 ± 0.13 billon years.

Really? I thought humans came from descents in Africa and eventually spread around the world in the need for more resources. Boy, have I been doing it wrong!

Not every Christian accepts the Nicene Creed, which was essentially a bunch of guys who sat down and decided what they were going to force everyone else to believe.

I have not read it yet....but Jefferson's bible seems like it would be closer to what Jesus wanted Christianity to be. The church has added so much garbage into the bible...

Can you prove that statement?

I disagree. While the church decided which books would become the canon of the Bible, they didn't really tamper much with what was already there.

There are some later additions (forgeries) in the New Testament (Mark 16:9-20, John 8:1-11, etc) and many smaller discrepancies between manuscripts but to blame the Church I think is a bit hasty and unsupported. What happened was probably what always happens when you copy a text over and over for hundreds of years - things change, get misunderstood, intentionally or unintentionally added, etc.

How old is the universe? Give me a number.

My comment still holds true. I suppose that just embellished upon it... Like I have said, I have not read it but Jefferson's version seems to be Jesus's message without the distortion of time. Time meaning (the church+other people)

1) True. According to Judeo Christian beliefs angels were not involved in creation.
2) Genesis 1 does not require a young universe. The Bible says "He made the stars also". It doesn't say "He made the stars also on day 4".
3) Yes that's true. I think it's pretty much universally accepted that the first humans lived in a tropical area even by those who reject the Bible.
