About 10 years ago they had "photo cop" here in salt lake - it lasted for about a year before public outrage filed lawsuits and the courts found that photo cop was illegal and against our constitutional rights.

They are thinking of putting those suckers in here and it has been fought tooth and nail. I live downtown and it creeps me to think there would be one planted right outside my doorway (we are almost on top of a redlight). Granted people run red lights like they don't exist here, but once you live here you learn not to cross without checking.

Would so love to get rid of them. Half the time they don't even work. Our fines are $100 + here, so ridiculous...
