Fringe supporters - Do they hurt Ron Paul?

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” -Dr. Seuss

You don't have to tiptoe around everybody's beliefs or change who you are for ANYbody. Speak the truth as you know it, and mean what you say.

You should post more often. :)

I would say the main ones to hurt RP are the ones that claim he is one of them. RP can say a thousands times that he doesn't believe 911 was an inside job but some will insist that he secretly giving clues that he is. I doesn't just apply to 911 people either, some anarchists, violent revolutionaries etc will put their opinions out with a claim that is also what RP believes. These are the people that hurt RP not so much those that have what is called far out positions but keep them seperated from RP's opinions. Medina pretty well proved that believing 911 was an inside job is not an electable stand. She very well could be the governor of Texas now had it not been for the little mistake.

This is so tiresome, I don't even know why I'm bothering, again.

Here's the big secret: Ron Paul is considered a "kook" and his followers as "fringe" because the government owned media wants it that way.

All you'll do, by stirring up everybody against one another is make that worse.

He wants to abolish federal school spending - kookery

He wants to institute competing currencies - lunacy

He wants to End the Fed - insanity

He wants to end the wars - quixotic

He wants to close overseas military bases - isolationist nonsense.

That said let the head cutting of our fellow liberty lovers and the cries of "STFU and GTFO, you're fucking it up for all the rest of us" continue.

The most "extreme" candidates compared to the status quo always get the kooky supporters. The biggest liberal will get all the socialists and communists, and the biggest conservative will get all the anarchists and all the people who think every bad thing that happens in this country was automatically the government.

There are plenty of those people here, and to those, I'm not gonna ask you, I'm gonna say shut the fuck up about all conspiracies if you're mentioning Ron Paul in the same sentence. You can try to convince people of the conspiracies but never bring Ron into it.

Everyone was very well behaved in Kentucky.

I think the media will pick supporters and staffers to attack any chance they get, it's just what they do, mainly because they can't find any dirt on the Paul's.

My motto: Protect your own and be proud of them; fuck the media and the haters.

Whatever your position on the host of "fringe" topics or issues is, try to make your argument as complete and concise and rational as possible but most importantly make it in a way that doesn't hurt Ron Paul.
I have spoken at length about the legalization of drugs to people you would NEVER in a million years think would eventually agree with me and they did. I have likewise made my position clear to gung ho kill'em all and let God sort'em out types about the policy of non interventionism and armed neutrality and guess what? I convinced them. I have also made my case for suspicion of government relative to the 911 truth issue. I didn't come across as some crazy guy who was accusing my own government of flying planes into buildings and deliberately murdering innocent Americans. I made them THINK and in so doing accomplished plenty. It's all in HOW you present yourself but I will say this. Though I have a lot of questions about what happened on 911 and at one point was almost convinced that people in our own government were behind it I realized how crazy the majority of Americans think that position is and I backed off mainly because they knew I am a Ron Paul supporter and the last thing that I want to do is hurt the cause and the loud outspoken "911 was an inside job" buddies of mine are the ones who the media focuses on not me the guy who strategically says "there are still a lot of questions that patriotic, intelligent Americans still have and in my view of American history it always has been from our very beginning the most American thing we could ever do and that is question our government and to be suspicious of government. In fact, our entire country was founded on just that". No one can deny that is true and then to be patriotic they too might look into the government's official story without the rose colored glasses of trust and belief.

When I'm talking about legalization of drugs to "conservatives" or Republicans I always point out that it wasn't until progressive authoritarian Democrats that drugs and alcohol because illegal and that was the first time our Federal Government presumed to tell free people what they could ot could not put into their own bodies and unless we're free over those choices we're not free at all. Its Democrats who want to control everything and pro choicers who attempt to take every possible choice that we can make for ourselves and out it into the hands of government to make for us. That it's not a conservative issue at all but liberal control freaks do all these things like drug laws, cookie laws, trans fats laws and anti smoking laws. I also remind them of the unintended consequences of Democrat authoritarianism like the crime culture the war on alcohol and drugs resulted in like our dependence on oil, Al Capone, and the gangs and cartels, all the associated killings and loss of our liberties along with the financial costs in a police state environment.
One of the most difficult things that I have encountered is to try to convince Republican neocons that the Federal Reserve is a greater threat to our liberties than Islamic terrorists. Thats for another post.

Public opinion is the avenue on which politicians come into power.

Ideas that appear to be "fringe" in the eye of the public hurt politicians and ideas.

Therefore, yes, fringe ideas hurt Ron.

Therefore, even ideas that are not within mainstream ideologies must be framed within appropriate rhetoric.

People should have the good sense no matter what their beliefes are to keep "9/11 was an inside job," out of a discussion about economics. And a lot of these supposed "fringe thinkers" are Ron Paul's base.
