Freedom Works Poll: Rand in tight race with Rubio

Most Rubio fans like Rand Paul. Most Ron Paul fans like Rand Paul. Most Rubio fans dislike Ron Paul. Most Ron Paul fans dislike Rubio. Rand is the only candidate who can unite the mainstream Tea Party and the liberty movement.

As confusing as that sounds - you are correct. Well stated.

It would help Rand build an advantage over Rubio if he declares as early as possible and builds a war chest, grassroots support, etc...Remember Florida will be a tight Senate race, as well. Try and convince the strategists that he's better served staying in the Senate...

The Rubio love is annoying considering all he does it sit on his hands in the Senate, never really speaking, just voting for awful legislation. Then you have Rand championing liberty every step of the way, yet people like them both equally?

Voted Rand, Amash, Lee for favorites and Rubio for least favorite. On the favorite side, it appears Rand has almost got a 2:1 lead on Rubio now.

Are there any legitimate policy differences between Rubio and Rand, besides maybe foreign aid and possibly the Patriot Act? I'm talking real differences, not "Rand is a lying trojan horse infiltrating the system" b.s. They both seem to milk the Tea Party label and both tend to suck up to Israel. So why should the average voter support Rand over Rubio?

Well this is from a recent article related to the foreign aid, but also directed towards Israel (from his trip):

Senator Rand Paul (Republican - Kentucky), a sworn opponent of foreign aid and a darling of the Tea Party, called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to forego US aid at a meeting at the Prime Minister's Bureau yesterday, a pro-Israeli source told "Globes" in Washington.

The source said that, during the meeting, Paul expanded the discussion on the US fiscal cliff, and reminded Netanyahu of his speech to Congress in 1996, when he said that Israel would gradually end US economic aid. He proposed to Netanyahu to do the same for US military aid, and promised that such a declaration would be welcomed enthusiastically in the US and that it would strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries.

Also this:

At a private dinner at the Jerusalem home of a London businessman and Jewish leader, Mr. Paul politely challenged an Israeli Cabinet official who contended it was impossible to deal with Palestinian leaders because their only goal is the elimination of Israel as an independent state.
“Instead of nodding his head in agreement with his Israeli hosts at the dinner as most American politicians would do, Paul said he disagreed and suggested ways to improve trade with the Palestinian Authority, Gaza and Israel to raise the living standard of the Palestinians and give them a bigger stake in peace,” Mr. Ross said.

While he's not as straight forward as some here would like him to be regarding Israel, I wouldn't call it "sucking up".

Rubio has voted to raise numerous taxes in Miami and Tallahassee despite claiming he had never done so Politifact rated these statements as false.

Rubio voted NO on the Rand Paul and Mike Lee budgets. Rubio also differed from Rand on Libya, slamming the 97 House and Senate Republicans who voted against Obama's intervention as "far-right" and "not real conservatives" in a speech to the liberal Brookings Institution.

I also remember a vote, it might have been in the NDAA amendment process where Rubio voted against a resolution urging for us to hurry up and get out of Afghanistan.
