Free Republic Comments on Rand Paul/Ted Cruz

WTF is this?

Ideally, Rand, Ron, Pitchfork Pat, Don Black, and some other skinheads and Holocaust deniers would be on the same elevator when the cable broke. Of course, I mean that in the nicest possible way.

And this one?

Paul is not even a republican, he wants open border, drugs, homosexuality agenda, hell he should be running in hos own party

Finally some reason.

My son, who is in Special Forces, says a lot of the guys there like a Paul, I don’t remember which one. Why would that be the case?

Who cares. These are just nutty, fringe people who in no way represent GOP primary voters as a whole. It would actually be a bad sign if Rand had their support.

You really wonder where that site went off the rails because in theory they should like Rand more than they do.

I think the grammar speaks for itself. Ironically, he basically identified the differences between the two bases and why Cruz supporters have issues with Rand.

Hate to be blunt but the "Liberty Conservative vote is basically breaking down this way:
RAND PAUL:
1. Non-social-crusading/anti-war Evangelicals who put protecting the Constitution and the ideals of individual liberty ahead of imposing their personal morality. May personally oppose gay marriage and abortion but doesn't make it the defining platform of their belief system and doesn't feel the need to impose fundamentalist christianity on everyone.
2. libertarian/socially liberal young suburbanites who grew up and realized the democrats talked the right talk on Iraq but socialism sucks and they're fascists too. Often times disagree mildly to strongly with Republicans on social issues but could be willing to vote for someone who's fiscally conservative as long as they have "21st century" ideas and care about some of the same things this subgroup cares about (i.e. war on drugs, centrism on marriage, etc).

TED CRUZ:
1. Social-crusading Evangelicals who believe he's on a mission from God and are stubbornly ignorant to the fact that the entire country laughs at them.
2. Secular Conservatives/Rednecks who are so virulently anti-amnesty that they believe the BS in their own head that Rand somehow supports amnesty.
3. Awful combinations of the above. The ones who think Obama's a homosexual Muslim (yes, both) from Kenya who was sent by Lucifer to bring about gay rights, a slight increase in the medical welfare state, and of course "abandoning Israel" which will imminently bring forth an Armageddon from the depths of hell.

Seems to me that they're the ones being to be hypocrites, considering both the Liberty movement and the Tea Party are SUPPOSED to be about individual liberty and limited government. Seems the latter has been hijacked by the religious right.

I used to post there a loooooong time ago.... before it became a ridiculously RINO/neocon website.

These days, I can barely stand to visit that site for longer than a few minutes, because the comments infuriate me.

They really hate Ron Paul with a burning passion - some hate him even more than they hate rabid left-wingers and they'll openly admit that.

They also mock ANY so-called "conspiracy theory" and their enemy #1 seems to be "truthers" or anyone who criticizes George W. Bush.

But I'm sure you guys know all this already. So I'm preaching to the choir here.

That said, I think there ARE a few good people (liberty-minded people who understand what's actually going on) who still post there. But I get the feeling they don't speak up much, for fear of being banned.

that site went off the rails with 9/11 and the Iraq War and never came back onto them

the professional agitators there are incredibly easy to spot, too - definitely psyops working that beat
