Free place to crash in New Orleans available

That's a thought. I'm up eight people in the room so far, including myself. If it goes over twelve I may start another donation thread for that purpose. I'd rather see two more people take you up on your offer and attend though. There may be some that are still working out transportation before getting a free ticket from you and free lodging in the room I have reserved.

You might want to ask for a room in the rear of the hotel.

If you don't ask, you may end up getting a room right near the hotel lobby and it will be harder for you to have that many people sleeping in one room.

Good idea. Thanks!

Also I plan to have a "call me on my cell and I'll open the door policy". We don't the folks next door complaining about continuous knocking on the door throughout the night.

I don't have a cell phone.... could I get in with a very soft knock?

Wow!

Does the motel still have rooms available? You might want to consider doing that chip-in sooner than later. If you wait to the last minute to book, there might not be any more rooms.

I'm not sure what motel chain you're using (and you don't need to post it here!) but some of those rooms are pretty damn small... Ever stay in a "Microtel" motel?

Motel 6 and Super8 are almost as bad.

the odds are... most people won't be going to sleep saturday night anyway. they may just need a shower.
bars are closed only long enough to clean up and restock.

I travel for a living to a large extent (or used to). How many people are you planning on putting in one room?

I guess earplugs will be required attire at this hotel!

if you dare to sleep, yes.
I remember minnesota, we were all so jacked up by being around other people who are like ourselves, that we'd stay up all night around the campfire talking.
I got about 8 hours sleep that entire week.

Yeah I got sick in MNLPS because I didn't get enough sleep and my body was worn down. It happens almost every CFL event ;):p

People like us are the only friends i have, and when I'm around people, it's them, so it won't be unusual for me except these folks will be ones I've never met. I'm sure most will be a lot younger than me and can do without sleep more easily than I can. That's why I have a backup plan to sleep in the back of my car if necessary.

Always a good idea in the warmer months.

When I went to MN for R4R I just rented a big SUV for myself, put all the back seats down, and it turned into a nice little bed.

One night I met some kind folks who let me crash in their hotel room too.

It's good to have a backup plan, but I don't think it will be necessary. I've warned everyone that this is a place to crash, not a place to party. I do plan on sleeping at some point. If that makes me an old fogey, so be it. :o For those night owls that want to stay up all night, I'm sure there are plenty of places in New Orleans where it's much more fun to hang out than a crowded motel room. The French Quarter is for partying, the hotel is for crashing/showering.
