Freakonomics by Steven Levitt worth reading?

theres a good part on gun control, showing how much more dangerous pools are than guns.

A rebuttal to Freakonomics
 
It seems like some of you here haven't read the book. Believe it or not, Freakonomics isn't written from the viewpoint of any particular school. It's quirky questions are based on incentives. Honestly, I think anyone here could read it from the viewpoint of how incentives influence the market and apply it to the Austrian school.

Personally, I think it's worth the read, and when you view it with some knowledge from the Austrian school it's pretty interesting.
 
John Stossel and Michael Shermer liked it too.

They don't necessarily agree with it, but they like how statistics can be used to fit agendas or messages.

Penn Jillette liked it too. Considering he's an anarcho-capitalist, I'm going to assume it's at least palatable for someone with an Austrian persuasion.

I agree with that. It's definitely worth a read and quite entertaining.

And more generally, it never hurts to read books where ideads different or directly opposed to your views are presented. There is a chance that you are mistaken on some points and others are right. And even if not, your understanding of opposing viewpoints can benefit your ability to destroy them in debates.
