Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

The conspiracy theories going around about this are absolutely bat$#@!. Soon it will get tied to Kate Middleton.

Maybe. But the people in charge are batshit insane, so it's hard to dismiss them out of hand.

I have no opinion regarding what happened.
I am skeptical that of all the places to lose power and control it is at a place where the #2 bridge for hazardous materials in the USA is taken out.
I would have found it more believable had it been a drunk operator, or heart attack, or ??? but power outage at that exact location seems like a highly unlikely probability.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. But NEVER lose your skepticism!

There are plenty of real conspiracies out there.

This, based on what is known at this time, is not one of them.

Good to see DV agrees.

I think due diligence is warranted. After all, this is awfully convenient. It's a good distraction. And it's an even better potential false flag...

As fast as Biden made his announcement, I see it more as I posted in the other thread:

... another square mile toward the merger of private business/government fascism. "You didn't build that, we did".

It is always warranted, but in this case, it seems pretty clear cut, based on what we now right now.

And it's not like this has not happened before:

There was the Webbers Falls - I40 incident right down in your state.

The Mobile AL Amtrak derailment.

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa.

There have been numerous allisions with the Golden Gate bridge.

That's just a few off the top of my head.

It's rare, but not impossible.

So you support the government's position in Kelo v New London?

That's surprising.

My reference was in regard to what Biden said during his speech: "I told them we’re going to send all the federal resources they need as we respond to this emergency, and I mean all the federal resources. And we’re going to rebuild that port together."

We should not be incurring the cost of what the company(ies) involved should be responsible for. I see Biden's move as another toward fascism. The square mile remark was meant as: damn that's another big one!

Let us assume the info about Sergei, the Ukrainian master of the Dali, was on board. I actually find it most likely that the Dali was hacked, and that it's power was cut off by an external microwave weapon. This could explain the smoke also. Control of cargo ships has already been demonstrated in the Pacific by the Chinese. My opinion for now at least is that the Dali was shut down by the Russians, in response to the Crocus Hall attack. Then, BalticShipping.com removed the info about the Ukrainian master because it was drawing attention. I don't think it was a false flag done by the US, UK, Ukraine, because it's not being blamed on the Russians... as a matter of fact, the US is trying to tamp things down because it may have had a hand in Crocus, or a group associated with US/UK/UKR got out of control and did it in an unofficial manner. I really do believe the Russians may have sent a message to the US about what they can do. --------

"Commander's file deleted
Then there is a very curious detail. And which concerns the card of the commanders of the Dali ship. Through a search on the balticshipping .com website, the number of the container ship can be used to trace the personnel on board. And in the voice of captain is a 52-year-old Ukrainian named Sergey, with a salary of $10,200 a month. But if you then scroll through the detailed information, you notice how he worked on the ship until 2016. Not everyone, however, has noticed this detail. Indeed, they highlighted how the origin instead hid a different and targeted action. Dangerous fantasies. But there is one aspect that cannot be missed. And that somehow fuels the mystery. It's about the missing card. A few hours after the accident she disappeared. Was it deliberately removed from the portal to avoid creating misinformation? All this is not specified. Just as it is not yet known who was driving the ship at the time of the accident."

ID: 33401 Se... (Sergei) would not have been on the page if he wasn't working on the ship. The fact that the details showed he worked on the ship in 2016 does not debunk anything. It only shows that he worked on the ship before also. His US Visa is current to 11/14/2026, and his Last Update was 3/3/2024. Which is when he was entered into this page. His last contract ended 2/19/2024 on another ship. Just in time...
His name is Sergei and he is Ukrainian (allegedly). His id. 33401 was swiftly removed from the register.

I really do believe the Russians may have sent a message to the US about what they can do.
I think skepticism is warranted, but I also think this looked like an accident. It looked like a lot of back-and-forth activity on board trying to get things back on track.

Additionally, if someone were really trying to send a message, then you'd think they would have coordinated with attacks at other ports rather than just one.

Again, I'm open to explanations, but we'll need more evidence to start drawing those kinds of conclusions.

It looks like the power went off two times. The ship was going forward without power, but with a good amount of momentum, the first time and when the power came back on, the pilot put the engine in reverse. Doing so caused the prop walk (the ship to turn). Normally prop walk can be corrected by going slightly forward. However the pilot would have been unable to do this because the power went off a second time.

i agree; in hindsight it seems like the ship had a lot of momentum without power so allowing the ship to get past the bridge seems like it might have been a better alternative.

Outstanding, I was going to bring that up: prop walk.

Single screw vessels, large or small will have their stern deflected when in reverse due to the effect of the prop blades on the water and hull.

A single screw vessel, like this ship, will walk its stern to port when backing with a right hand rotation prop.

This is true with either a fixed or variable pitch prop.

Walking its stern to port induces a right hand turn to starboard, that would be impossible to correct with no electric power, because you will have no steering.

As far as just letting the ship drift and maybe getting through unscathed, that's a pretty risky proposition.

Large vessels in shallow waterways, tend to suffer from "squat" and also are prone to "sheer" and need constant rudder input to maintain heading, especially as speed increases.

As master or pilot, you'd get crucified if it came out that you did essentially nothing to stop the collision.

Which, by the way, in marine terminology that is not what this was, it was an allision, a moving vessel hitting a stationary object.

Me?

I would have given a hard right rudder command as soon as the power came back for a couple of seconds, and beached in it shallow water on the west side of the channel.

That creates it's own problems, but it's better than hitting the bridge.

That trick has saved my ass on a couple of occasions of "dark ship" in a constricted area.

Yep. That was discussed in the video I referenced. Throwing it in reverse turned the ship, possibly combined with a dropped anchor, directly towards the pier.

It's all Monday morning quarterbacking, mostly by people who don't know anything about a large ship. I don't know anything about it. Just intuitively, I would want to first take into account where the ship was heading with current momentum and direction. Like I said, I am no one to judge, but it seemed like they were in panic mode, and did not take into account that their actions steered it into a direct hit.

And yes, as AF says, they would be crucified if they didn't take drastic measures and they hit anything at all. Well, they took action, but the result was the worst possible. Did they cover their asses by just doing something, anything? (* Why does that sound familiar?)

It's likely that if they hadn't done anything that turned the ship, they would drift under but hit something less directly, which would also lead to a crucifixion. But maybe not catastrophic damage.

The best outcome is that they would drift under without touching anything. There would be no praise, no news, and probably some kind of reprimand for that too.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

(* Reminds me of officials during Covid. "We have to do something! Doing nothing is not an option!")

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.

Alex is a great dick pill salesman.

I think it's a tincture you are referring to rather than pills, and I think it just boosts testosterone, which gives males more energy and ability to grow muscle when working out. I am not aware he sells pills that are advertised to do what you say. But keep giving out misinformation, it really helps your case and doesn't at all poison the well.
