Gary Johnson Fox tweaked rules specifically to let Gary Johnson into the next debate - wonder why?

Johnson isn't the same as Ron on foreign policy, he believes in humanitarian wars, for example. However, he might go after some of Ron's antiwar support. And in any event, I am sure Fox wants to dilute Ron's support, or they wouldn't have bothered manipulating numbers for just one candidate.

he put out a statement rebuking humanitarian wars after that fiasco occurred.

Ron presents his own ideas better than Gary does.

I agree. And his positions are more internally consistent. But lots of people confuse the validity and soundness of ideas with how widely they are believed.

Another voice in support of Ron Paul's vision (or at least more so than the status quo on the sum) is a positive thing, and makes the message appear less radical. People can't portray Paul as a crazy old radical if there is a young(er), successful Governor saying much of the same things as Ron Paul, with a demonstrable record of executive success to boot.

I don't think Gary Johnson will necessarily bring voters in directly, but rather he might cancel out the lazy stereotypes that some folks engage in when evaluating Ron Paul's message (radical, unrealistic, non-intervention = no national defense, etc...), which could in turn...lead to some votes.

But that is just a guess.

Keep in mind Johnson didn't get many questions when he was in the debates. I just hope he drops his ego and tag-teams with Ron.

Funny how FOX fights to keep Ron out but fights to keep Gary in. If they think they'll split the vote, then they are 10 years behind in political strategy.

This is a wonderful point. So, assuming the political discussion changes and favors anti-war, Anti-Fed, and possibly Paul's idea of a sound economy, then the person who would win that discussion is who leads it best. Ron Paul.

I just hope Ron doesn't revert to thinking this is a libertarian debate and address him. Ron has to be focusing on Romney and Perry.

I don't see how having Gary Johnson in the debate can hurt us, so let them do it. There have been a lot of complaints about Huntsman and Santorum being in the debates while Gary Johnson is left out.

I expect this debate to be another dog-and-pony (Rick-n-Mitt) show, with a chance of Santorum. I sure hope Ron Paul learned his lesson and has a snappy comeback ready for Rick Santorum.

Lol it's a conspiracy when he's not let in, it's a conspiracy when he is let in.

Johnson will have to take speaking time from someone that he wouldn't be if he wasn't included. Now whom do you believe Fox News will think to take it from?

They now have to come up with something other than "The Libertarian" to call Ron as they introduce candidates...

How are they fighting to keep Ron out? O_o

No, when both were in they called them 'the libertarianS' said their positions were 'mostly the same' then spoke about Gary being pro choice (which Ron is not.) They never used him to Ron's benefit only to his detriment.

Whatever, Gary isn't there for Ron he is competing with Ron. But Ron needs to focus on the two in the middle.

Gary's track record is not as extensive as Ron's but I really think "he is one of use" as Napolitano would said.
Gary is legitimately the next in line to have a spot, when he's in a poll he gets 1 or 2% (more like 1 since august http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nation..._Republican_Party_2012_presidential_primaries) from what I've seen.I don't see it as unfair (though they have been unfair with him on other debates per there own criteria http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UgP47a6994) to the other candidates.

That being said I wonder why and would put nothing above them, as to the consequences... they matter less (I still hope it doesn't hurt Dr Paul) then the truth and freedom to hear as much a possible in my opinion.

You know, I've never had anything but positive things to say about Gary Johnson. But his unnecessary presence in this race, as well as his continuous digs against Ron Paul, are really starting to piss me off.

They were clearly pushing him over Ron early on. I think they delude themselves thinking he'll split Ron's vote but he simply is a completely different candidate.

yeah nice to see gary in this one but no one is going to leave Ron Paul to support Gary!! If they did they were never a ron paul supporter to begin with!!!

They're going to paint the image that Gary Johnson is Ron Paul without the 'kookiness'..This will be the post-debate media strategy to diminish Paul's campaign. That's why they are giving him special favors and the spotlight.
