Fox News says bring back death penalty for Snowden

Fox News military analyst, Colonel Peters, said nobody was actually harmed with the NSA
conducting surveillance on us. He said nobody was harmed and it was to
keep us safe. He went on to call Snowden a punk and high school
dropout, and said treason has been sensationalized and been made to be
cool. He said we need to bring back the death penalty for people like
Snowden.

I’m all for the death penalty on a state level for a person who committed a heinous crime such as murder. But the death penalty on a federal level for someone who is accused of espionage or treason is quite chilling to say the least as these are so loosely defined. People, including myself when I was naïve, said Ron Paul was a traitor and loved terrorists. This was just because he said we were adding to our debt by expanding our empire when our military should only be used to protect our country. By Colonel Peters’ definition, Ron Paul should be executed. When someone believes someone should be executed for speaking out against policy or questioning government, it is reminiscent of the Stasi of East Germany, the Third Reich, and Soviet Russia, but not what the United States is supposed to be.

Colonel Peters is calling for Snowden’s execution while embracing the idea of the NSA spying. Keep in mind, Snowden hasn’t even been tried yet. This, to me, says Peters probably wouldn’t mind having Snowden taken out without even receiving a trial.

I agree completely. He spouts the false patriotism, but is far from a patriot as he obviously despises the principles the nation was founded on.

Yeah, it's all in the name of keeping us safe. I love how he asked how many people were harmed by NSA surveillance and Kilmeade answered, "Nobody." The obvious answer is, "Everybody," as our fundamental rights have been violated. God gave us rights and the government tries to take them away. We are the freest slaves in the world.

Misleading thread title. It was some douche on Fox, not the network. Many on Fox have publicly supported Snowden, including the Judge, Shep, most of "The Five," even Hannity has been fair.

If Snowden gets caught, I hope he gets the death penalty. It would make him a martyr.

The worst thing they could do is make him just disappear, or lock him in a cage for the rest of his life.

Ideally I'd agree with you on this. In practice, I'm worried about the prospects of killing innocent people and the huge amounts of money spent on it. I'd go with exile to a penal colony, except in cases where the evidence is rock solid, in which case I'd be fine with the death penalty for both of those things provided we are defining "rape" as actual force being used and not some other lesser charge such as statuatory rape.

I really couldn't care less. They're a tool for the establishment. That much is painfully clear. They're just serving to uphold the left/right paradigm that divides us all. I give them no love for any reason, whatsoever and I recognize them for what they are.
