Four weeks of VALUABLE radio airtime up for grabs

He was at 42.50 just a few minutes ago, and now RP's percentage is dropping rather quickly... :O I think somebody scripted something - I can't keep up with them manually!

Word on the street is that people are using things like the iMacros Firefox extension to automate the voting process. Using tools like that, as well as more clever hacking techniques, are apparently what the Romney and Thompson campaigns are doing at the moment. Their numbers have skyrocketed since last night.

As to whether it's worthwhile to fight fire with fire...that's a decision each person must make individually. :)

For those who wan't to fight fire with fire.... I wonder what this link does:

Ron Paul:

Got anything that works with Opera. I dont use firefox

There are definitely others doing the same thing. I just ran a macro 100 times and Ron Paul lost 2 hundredths of a percent.

Those dont work for me - just shows up as text (internet explorer)

Slowly losing ground to Thompson.
If you have Firefox then just get the add-on iMacros. With that you can easily make your own macro to vote as fast as possible.

heh - I just voted 10 times. That was kinda fun. Yet stupid. Looks like the scripters are going to have to keep at it. My connection isn't so good for that. I watched RP's numbers decline in the couple minutes I was there.

And I quote:

"Vote as often as you’d like for any candidate"

Even a totally uncontrolled poll like this where multiple votes are actually encouraged, is not meaningless. If Ron wins, it still says we have the most internet support.

can someone take the lead on putting together an explanation of the macros and PMing it to interested forum members? We (if required) can run them enmass.

Ok, it was worth installing iMacros - that might be useful for real stuff. For those using Firefox, go here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3863 to download the iMacros plug in.

Once installed, just go to the vote page, click Rec on the iMacros control, then click on the Ron Paul button, click "vote", then click "vote again". Then play the macro to check that it works. Then set the loop to how many times you'd like it to run. I'll chip in my 10000. :-)

And again - no one can accuse us of cheating. This particular poll explicitly says to vote as many times as you like. It isn't hacking either - the program is just reproducing your mouse clicks. Even if it's possible to vote multiple times on other polls, I only vote once. This one is different.

Yea, that text is whats returned and normally displayed in your browser window using AJAX so the page doesn't have to be entirely reloaded. Those links just send the vote for RP right to the php page so that you don't have to keep clicking back and selecting him and clicking vote and what not. Basically, that link is whats visited when you click the submit button for voting for Ron Paul.

If they're showing ads and getting paid by the pageview on them, then they may be manually adjusting the numbers, pushing the others up and RP's numbers down, just to bait all of you into increasing their pageviews.

These people may be scamming RP supporters. I've been expecting this. They're using sugar to draw the flies. We're the flies.

I doubt it. There are several camps using macros. There are so damn many votes now, it takes a huge number to do anything at all to the percentages.
